"Dr Ivan D. Reid" said to Donegal Paul who said
Ah, yes, that would explain those big round things on top of the carbs :)
Ive not opened them up that far but guess I prolly should to make sure said
    diaphragms are not split.

NB: Some older Honda CV carbs (the sort with vacuum operated slides) use
an actual metal piston rather than a rubber diaphragm to lift the
cylindrical slides... but your bike is prolly new enough to have the
rubber diaphragm type. If you do have the metal piston type, make sure
all the bits are all squeaky clean and burr-free.

  4. Good point. The 250 and 400 Super Dream versions of that engine used the
metal type, but I dunno about the 350. O'd expect it to be metal as
    well.

Guess what? Nope to the metal bits, its rubber diaphramed connected to the
    tops of the pistons :-/

One of the pistons looks nice and shiny the other -->
    http://www.thepilgrimssc.co.uk/images/cb/carbpiston01.jpg does look a little
black in places round it, not sure what that's indicative of though.
On saying that everything seems pretty clean internally which is reassuring
but I do have reservations about what I believe is the air cut off valve
which has a diaphragm which looks a bit dirty and even a little rust on the
    inner of it.

Eew, them's some nasty looking carbs...
The 'aircutoff02' looks like an accelerator pump, to provide a bit of
extra fuel when you open the throttle.
All those rubber bits need to be whole, with no holes or splits in them.

  8. Coo! They are rubber!

The main carb diaphragms look OK, but you need to remove them and hold
them up to the light to be sure.

Those little air bleed diaphragms are a right PITA.

Yeabut the internals seem pretty clean.
All appear to be on first inspection.

Cheers TOG, Ill do that tomorrow, as for the little diaphragms, I can only
get at one, as the other is inside the other carb and I haven't split them
yet, I suppose I have to if I want to be sure :-/
