OK, so it's not a Royal Oilfield

But I've agreed to buy this

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=250152027616&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=015

Just missed out on the bidding, but we've agreed on £700 which (even
though it has no MoT), is a decent price, assuming it's as good as it
    looks.

I really liked the early 750 Viagra: lovely engine, incredibly clean
looks, shaft drive. Downside was a crap rear shock (easily remedied),
slighty iffy front brake, and the usual crap electric start. And this
one has a new starter motor.

The later 750 went to twin rear shocks (probably a good move) and
rather tasteless styling. This one reminds me of the XS650 Custom.

Admit it, you only bought it for the spare gasket set.

I had some bint on a Yamaha custom thing pull past my car at the
lights recently who'd clearly been to the tassle shop - bar ends,
panniers, seat, jacket *and* jeans. Looked like a black leather kelp
    bed.

Looks OK in a Duke of Kent kind of a way, IYSWIM ;-)

You've just reminded me of how much I really, *really* want a Kawasaki
    Eliminator 900.

I really rather liked the TR-1 and the German market version of yours, which
was a chain driven 750 styled very much like the TR-1. There was one for
sale near me not long ago but alas I was skint.

In terms of modding them, try an XJ750 ( semi custom thingy, not too vile )
front end. Gives you twin discs, air assist suspension and adjustable
damping that -SHOCK HORROR-makes three fifths of **** all difference.

Great bikes for loping about on.

Yup, I still have a 19" XJ750 front wheel c/w discs and the accompanying 18"
rear. I lobbed the calipers and fork legs years ago. If you can get a fork
leg with caliper mount and caliper, you are welcome to the wheels.

I may have a screen of me 'ardley, but I *think* that's missing some of
    the mounting hardware.
