Having just aquired my first motorbike, I have gone & got it datatagged.

I am in the process of filling in the forms and I need to know where to look
for on the bike to find the engine number.

Can any of you wise people be of assistance?

    Matt

BTW, Its a CG125 if that makes any difference...

At the risk of sounding even sillier, I did think it might be.

I can see about 5 different numbers - all of which I assume are part numbers
of each bit. Is this what I am to write down or what?

P.s. I really do appreciate the feedback. I just read these responses and
re-read my original message (yep - admittedly not the best phrased question
in the world). The words 'No sh*t sherlock' sprung to mind...

Welcome to the dark side! Keep the sunny-side up, and the rubber-wear
down, they *are* all trying to kill you, and the Gixxer Thou is a
    girlie bike.
    Smart move!
Bottom left-hand side. Behind gear lever, to right of oil plug.
At least it is on my 1999 model.
Note well - the wise ones have GHPOTUF numbers. Apart from the Gonzoid
one, who is afflicted with the 2-stroke heresy.

Truly, brother it makes a great difference.

In fact, it is the One True Motorcycle!

What a charming chap - and such a winning attitude...

My apologies for offending anyone else. I shall try to adhere to the group's
rules & regs more accurately in future.

I had just bought a bike, and phoned my ins co. They wanted the engine
number, but bike was at home, I was at the office. I call SWMBO and tell
her, "Go out in the garage and get the engine number, it's stamped into
the engine cases". She says, "OK, I'll be right back..." she comes back
to the phone and says proudly:

    "It's 1N2345"

Thanks to all. Prob. sorted. I found out that it's 'H-O-N-D-A' and am sure
my insurance company will be pleased with my level of knowledge.

Even enjoyed the banter. Long may it continue...

For a minute there I thought I might have had a ringer as that sounded
familiar but mine is 1N23456, so that's ok.
