Not sure what your budget is but I saw an 1100 Dragstar in Hastings
today -- 2k (ish) miles, very shiny and new with gay^Wfetching leather
    panniers going for GBP 4995.

  3. They needed to - friend of mine had one and (foolishly) decided to go
    touring in Europe on it.

Of the 10 days he was there it was out of action for 8 because of stuff
    breaking or falling off.

And this was a bloke who was very mechanically minded and knew how to
    look after bikes.

when he got back he sold it back to the dealer at roughly the same as
he had paid for it - the dealer had a long waiting list of people
desperate for them and could flog them on at extortionate prices.

There may be a few reasons there ;-)

Funnily enough, mine is in a thousand pieces at the moment.
Indian main bearings - only lasted 13 years or so.
Frame and swingarm rusting nicely - so I might as well get the lot
powder coated whilst I'm about it.
    Hmm.
A tad slow, the lights ain't all they could be ( though that can be
    fixed ).
I find the foot rests to be too far forward - the rearset kit brings 'em
    to
just about the right place. ( that's the next item on my shopping
    list ).

Go for it - if nowt else, they're fun.

Please God, let it be an unused RD400, just so I can wheelie it up and
down the road outside TOG's gaff.

I've just been out to sit on the ER5. Are we talking about the same bike - a
Kawasaki 500 twin with twin shocks?

It's very low - probably about 31 inches unloaded. I'm only 5 feet 9 inches
and it's really a bit on the small side; but I love it's lazy power and
light weight so I am prepared to bend my knees a bit.

What's the seat height on a Bullet?

It is not just seat height but width as well. I am 5' 8" with shortish
legs and narrow manly hips. There aren't many bikes I can ride that
allow me to get both feet flat on the ground. Knackered rear shocks are
    a distinct advantage imho.

    A gnats under 30 inches.

    Sorry.

BTW, national television are trying to beat your offer.
