Original post seems to have wandered off into internet room 101 so I'll have
    another go...

    My oil is disappearing.
I've checked that it's not falling out, (all the usual orifices and no oil
    on the drive)
No smokiness from the exhaust either.
I'm having to refill after every 200 miles (ish)

    Causes and cures welcomed.

Without knowing that bike model I'll still make two suggestions.

Do you fill it to the max when you refill ? I've had a number of bikes
and cars where the level went down to 3/4 full in a very short time
and then it stabilised. Cure = only fill to 3/4 if this applies in your
    case.
Do you follow the instructions in the bikes manual when you check
the oil level. Or, if not, do you use a method that will give the same
reading every time. Never compare a cold reading with a hot,
never a reading after being parked with one after riding, always lean
the bike the same way and park on a level spot. We've all been
fooled by false oil level readings.

Did my sig not give it away?
The way I read the level is to look through the little window and see where
the level is. I fill it to the max level on the window and after a couple of
hundred miles I look again and see nothing in the window.

Have noticed though cleaning the bike today that the exhaust is very sooty
so I'm assuming it's burning away. Going to try this <quote> Could be valve
guide seals - get the engine warm, ride at fairly high revs,
then close the throttle and look in your mirror to see if you can see any
smoke - or better still get someone to follow you and watch.<unquoteth) and
    see if that's it.

    Ta guys.

Is my English that bad? OK, so I actually figured out what bike you
have. What I tried to admit was that I know sod all about the technical
details for that particular model and my advise is general and applies
more or less to any bike.
Now, when you say that you see nothing in the window after riding
the bike, all this bollox I was saying is just academic. Your bike uses
a lot of oil and the other posts are more to the point. My defence
is that there is a lot of misunderstandings about how to get a
correct oil level reading and it is possible to use (waste) oil by being
    clueless.
