oil leak help

    anyone know what part this is? (see pic attached). the bike only leaks if
    leaning on the kick stand. if i keep the bike vertical it doesnt leak.
    any suggestions

    That's probably the gear selector shaft leaking.

    gear selector. is that easy to repair? should i take it in to get fixed?

    by looking at the pic - I would say it isn't a super hard job if you have
    some mechanical knowledge.

    take the gear selector off
    take the clutch slave cyl off - leaving it on the clutch line to save you
    rebleeding it later
    take the sprocket cover off.

    then you should be able to see the seal.

    then you have a couple of options.

    pick the seal out & replace like it is - being careful over the shaft (
    making sure there are no burs or built up grease on it that can sour the
    seal)... or

    pull it all apart & do it as per the honda service manual

    Unless its like the FZ750, which was a split the cases job (or was
    that countershaft seal) :(

  7. AND there's usually a size on the seal which means you DONT have to
    buy a genuine Honda part. If you cant see any numbers and the seal isnt
    too damaged take it to a bearing shop. They can measure it.
