I have a Yamaha R-6 1999 model. The oil indicator light and the sign
(both) on the odometer are blinking, so filled the recommended yamaha
engine oil. I think the oil level now is above the high level. Still
both the indicator light and symbol are the blinking, what should i do?

  2. The light is telling you about pressure. You might have an
engine full of oil and still have low pressure if you've got
a problem with the oil filter.

Did the problem start suddenly ? After a recent oil change ?

As timberwolf says, it could also be a sending unit or wiring
problem. What you don't want to do is to keep running the
engine while you're trying to find it.

I had a similar problem on my bike. I had the bike towed home,
bought a new sending unit and swapped it in. This fixed my
    problem.

If the problem had persisted, I'd have probably changed the oil
and filter, inspected the old filter for possible metal bits and dust
dropped the oil pan to inspect the pump pickup and gone through
the wiring looking for a short.

If the problem had still persisted, I hope I would have had
the sense to bring in somebody more qualified than me
to look at it and/or put a pressure guage on the pump.

Spend too much time running it while trying to figure out what's
wrong and you'll lunch the motor.
