This is true, but if a customer prefers to sign the slip rather than type in
a code, there is the choice. We have the facilities for both, its up to the
individual at the mo.

I can see that option becoming a thing of the past when the retailer
takes the hit for any fraud, as opposed to the bank. Then, I suspect,
it'll be PIN or cash.

 

I went into a "budget" shoeshop (think aldi, but with shoes) at the
weekend and even they had the pin-pads. Didn't use them though.
