Right, after trying to kill herself a few times, SWMBO has decided that
she's gonna do the 125 test instead of the big bike one.
She has a Virago 535 sitting in the garden and I was hoping that one of you
knowledgeable chaps/chapesses would be able to tell how to go about getting
the thing restricted to 33hp (1) so as she can ride it legally.
I know that it has to be certified, but is there a kit or sommat that I can
fit, then take it to whoever to get the legal thumbprint.

    TIA

    Cheers

    (1) didn't 'ave any of this fecking about when I learnt. If you could stay
on the bike for more than 5 minutes you passed!!

If she takes a 125cc test, she is limited to 125cc engines, not 33bhp
    restricted ones.

    Not according to her instructor!
They said, since she's a tad over 21!! that she can ride any bike restricted
to 33hp for 2 years, then any size bike after that.
    Who's correct here then?

    Cheers again.

Once she passes the 125cc test she can ride anything she likes, as long
    as it produces <33bhp.

    From the DVLA website:

To gain a full standard category A licence you must successfully
complete CBT and pass a theory test followed by a practical test on a
motorcycle of over 120cc but not larger than 125cc and capable of at
least 100kph. In practice the normal test vehicle will be a 125cc
machine. A full standard category A licence permits you ride any
motorcycle with a power output of up to 25kW (33bhp) and a
power-to-weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kW/kg without `L' plates, carry
pillion passengers and use motorways. You are restricted to a motorcycle
up to 25kW for two years (not counting any periods of disqualification).
After two years you may ride any size motorcycle.

Do you think there is much demand for the CBR1100XX restrictor kit?! :)

I remember reading that, they said that they only had about a 1/4 inch
    of throttle movement.
