oh well, it's only a bandit..... :(

  1. Approaching T Junction, slowing down to stop, small patch of gravel,
front slides out, dnc on floor.

Was going so slowly that I didn't even tear my suit trousers.
They did get somewhat covered in oil on the way home though. Hot stuff
that engine oil innit. Had I realised quite how much it was going to
leak, I'd never have ridden it home. Looking at the photo I feel lucky
not to have had a second accident.

Damage looks like, everything Blaney did that I'd put right:
Lights, clock case, crank case cover[1], gear lever.

Plus some more to those bits I hadn't put right:
Clutch lever, bar end weight, seat units (paint scratch).

plus a new bit - it's the cam to cam that appears to be leaking oil.

Lid didn't go down, so that's a blessing. Right knee banged hard
somehwere and some soreness around the right hip/middle.

No thanks to the twat in the range rover who didn't stop to help/check
    if I was okay.

I'd rather see a picture of the pile of gravel, just out of interest.

Heh, welcome to the club. Surprise Gatsos in the wet can do that, too.
How did it manage to leak so much oil. Stink of petrol, yes, but oil?[1]
Well look at it this way mate, next time you crash it, it won't hurt as
    much IYSWIM.
Par for the course mate. Only 3 series BMW drivers are worse IMO.
Notwithstanding the oil, it's shiny innit.
    Indeed.

  9. Bad luck, fella.
I can't say I understand the reason for that bit. I thought the B12
engine was over engineered anyway, and didn't need anything like that?
Or has something, erm, "naughty" been done to it, so it does? Either
way, mine won't be sprouting any such.
    <sweeping generalisation>
    That's fourby drivers for you.

heh. ta. although more "welcome back".

Mostly leaking from the banjo bolt on the cam to cam link, but possibly
through the crank case cover too. Mostly whilst riding the fucker home.

As Lozzo just said in IRC, Oil spreads nicely.

    btw, what was the footnote?

It will, cos it's getting fixed. *again*.

Yeah mostly. Here's what it looks like normally.

It's a trick bit. Ie mostly looks iirc.
However it has been played with a bit, so might help out somewhere along
the lines. If not only to help the oil cool a little bit more I guess.

The footnote was that I'd seen the bit about the cam to cam pipe leaking
so thought that's what you must've meant about the oil.
You'll be wanting some engine bars and *long* bar ends then ;-)
Nice. Not sure about the tail piece TBH, but a nice looker all the same.
The chrome of the oil cooler cover and the pipey bits look good against
    the black.

This is the one that spells "messy" - messy but cheap to fix.
The only time my Enfield has lived up to the reputation for leaking -
    oh, that reminds me,
I must pull the thing apart first chance I get . . . . the bloody main
    bearings went last Thursday.
    Bikes, who'd have 'em ?

    Oops.

I had a puncture on Saturday, and the score of people who stopped to
see if I needed help whilst waiting for the recovery man was:

    Power Rangers: 0.
    Harley Rider: 1.
    Kent Police: 1
Amen. I might be sellling mine soon. Interested?
