Hmm. 100 mile round trip. In its 125 mile career so far, it's done a fuel tap, air filter, head gasket, cylinder stud, fork seals, a set of plugs, an exhaust baffle, centre-stand bolt, and needed two carb rebuilds. I might be a bit late. I'll hand you a couple of full ones when you arrive, then. -- | ___ Salad Dodger |/ \ _/_____\_ GL1500SEV/CBR1100XXX/KH500A8/TS250C |_\_____/_| ..69339../..16127.../..3180./.19406 (>|_|_|<) TPPFATUICG#7 DIAABTCOD#9 YTC#4 PM#5 |__|_|__| BOTAFOT #70 BOTAFOF #09 two#11 WG* \ |^| / IbW#0 & KotIbW# BotTOS#6 GP#4 \|^|/ ANORAK#17 '^' RBR-Visited:74 Pts:1630 Miles:5400
Thanks, that would be brilliant. I'd suggest sending it via the "underground railway", but it would probably be simpler to post it.
Shouldn't be a problem as long as it's not going to fall off, and doesn't interfere with brake/gearchange. "Reasons for rejection: 2. {ii) insecure seat or footrest component." http://www.motuk.co.uk/mcmanual_630.htm One of mine hangs down at about a 30-40 degree angle.
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Pip Oh me too, me too. I haven't ridden a stroker for *years*.
IME their all as incompetent as each other. FWR re-assembled my zzr6 with the spacer between the sprocket carrier and wheel missing. I suspect (with hindsight - something not quite right when adjusting the chain) that the spacer went missing when I had a puncture repair at Chas Bikes (twat of an apprentice who seemed to thick it was OK to re-insert wheel spindles by smacking them with a hammer). But since FWR were the last lot to have it to bits they got the blame (whether it was there or not it was incompetent IMHO to re-assemble it in a potentially dangerous state). To be fair the workshop manager at FWR did try to sort the problem - he managed to find one spacer lying around, not for my bike, but close enought that I could easily machine it to fit on a lathe (he would have sourced a new one but I didn't want to wait) and gave me a new carrier bearing free of charge. I still use FWR as I work round the corner but I try to watch the mechanics as closely as possible. The place I use to fit tyres to loose wheels (watling tyres, gravesend) since they're closer to where I live haven't got a blemish free record either. They once managed to fit a 150/60 instead of a 160/60. They also on one occasion got the front wheel balence completely wrong and somehow cocked/moved one of the wheel bearings which caused the wheel to temporarily tighten up (until the bearing popped back into place) when I tightened the wheel spindle. I re-balence the wheel myself. Jim
Oh, the underground railway is more fun. I mean, my Triumph Trophy fairing has been four months in transit (partly due to my forgetting about it). There must be somebody Brizzle-bound in the near future.
TOG, how far are you from Sarf Croydon? I shall be there tomorrow morning. -- | ___ Salad Dodger |/ \ _/_____\_ GL1500SEV/CBR1100XXX/KH500A8/TS250C |_\_____/_| ..69339../..16127.../..3180./.19406 (>|_|_|<) TPPFATUICG#7 DIAABTCOD#9 YTC#4 PM#5 |__|_|__| BOTAFOT #70 BOTAFOF #09 two#11 WG* \ |^| / IbW#0 & KotIbW# BotTOS#6 GP#4 \|^|/ ANORAK#17 '^' RBR-Visited:74 Pts:1630 Miles:5400
The sidestand that's on it was carefully manufactured by the pre-penultimate owner - it only had a centre stand when I first saw it.
Only a small part of the sidestand is still on it. There was the remains of a stud or bolt in a tapped hole close to the pivot: possibly a quarter of the material of the prop itself remained. One afternoon, I noticed that the bike was having a little lie-down...
