I saw it at the local Cineworld - I was completely blown away - the
direction is excellent, but the way the subject is treated - not
delicately, but with respect - is awesome. Also, I can't recall ever
seeing a film before with *absolutely no* introduction or titles
before, which added to the impact. Re-watching it on DVD didn't lessen
    it either.

Do see it - I'd appreciate hearing your opinion.

haven't seen it, but so far, perhaps the best animated film I've seen
    is "Spirited Away".

That's quite good, but a bit of a Japanese headfuck.

When The Wind Blows is pretty special.

The first half was a great satire. The second half was a ropey action
    movie. Wasted opportunity.

I've just taken delivery of Man On Wire on bluray and One Of Our
Dinosaurs Is Missing on DVD. That should see me through the hours when
    TMS isn't on.

Makes sense, I suppose, what with all those nannies.

Just checked, and you're 100% correct. Odd how the memory screws up.

Samurai nannies, racially offensive stereotypes and Peter Ustinov making
weird throat noises. What's not to love?

  13. Agree.

Cf. the Aliens-inspired fight scene in A Matter of Loaf and Death.

That made me laugh like a drain.

The image of the 40 and stock being blown off the viaduct tends to stick
    with me.

Although not a film have you read "Ethel and Ernest"? It's the life of
Raymond Brigg's parents - definitely worth a read.

surely you're not surprised I like that aspect of it?

That was wonderful. I was surprised how many of my peers didn't spot the
