Per TOG, in "French Run News":

"The truck stopped, and then the driver climbed back into his cab and
    fucked off. "

My understanding is that he climbed back into his cab and fucked off
after a biker or two started to walk towards him. He might simply have
    feared retribution.

He pulled over, got out and had a look behind and then fucked off. I
think he at least suspected something even if he wasn't sure so as far
as I can see he scarpered.

A good kicking was certainly deserved and whether or not it solved
anything is irrelevant. He obviously suspected that his vehicle had lost
something and probably hit someone yet decided to cut and run so he lost
any rights to be treated reasonably.

  4. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Colin Irvine
It was rather worse than that, AIUI. He had Mrs Dodger walking towards
    him.

Frankly, I'm slightly surprised his legs were strong enough to press the
    clutch down.

But by the time he had cut and run no one was in a position to treat him
with anything. Be it big stick or kid gloves. He got away with careless
and irresponsible negligence that could have cost someone their life.

It's easy (with the benefit of hindsight) to say someone could have
chased him but once he was back in that cab and rolling he was pretty
well safe from anything someone on a bike could have done plus it's very
difficult to follow a truck and type the vehicle details into your phone
    at the same time.

The main thing is that Dodger & Linda were unhurt and the damage doesn't
appear to have been too bad. I'll carry on setting off French speed
cameras as a protest against their shitty truck drivers but beyond that
there's not much to be done.

Exactly. No one was hurt. Nothing could be done about anything. It's just
a bugger that one moment of incompetence has placed the general public at
risk, caused damage to both property and underwear.
I'm sure their truck drivers will be on strike soon anyway. But if you
think they are shitty you should see the local ones round here. There's
one unloading bricks outside my house at the mo. All the tyres are bald,
the outer left one of fronter rear axle is flat and flapping off the rim.
The thing is overloaded to the point of tipping. (And that’s just while
parked). In comparison a lost winder is a bit of negligence on the part
of one individual as opposed to the irresponsible corporate maths of
drivers and public being cheaper than truck parts.

Here's hoping when he reached his destination, he was unable to park
    his trailer or unload it.

Didn't he even offer mullah? IME yorkie munchers want to offer you £20
    Sonny.
One assumes SD took note of the truck registration so insewrance should
    chase it up anyway?

There's the bug on a windscreen joke to be done here, but not just yet,
    perhaps.
