    Now don't do it again

Kawasaki cam cover gaskets seem to be stupidly priced - the
    ShiteOldGT750 one was 20 quid.
As the sump has zero oil pressure, as it were, I'd be tempted to clean
everything really well, and use gasket goo. Only a very, *very* little,
mind you. Last thing you want is a great big grolly opf the stuff
getting into an oilway or the pump.
    Sounds about right.

Oh, BTW. Thanks for the chat, I phone Graham (top bloke) and now for
some odd reason I seem to be the owner of a pair of the gayest boots
    in all the land.

Apparently, I was actually saving money.

Still, look in the bright side. You'll be *way* too embarrassed to crash

I haven't got much money. Oh... Wait...
Interesting! Looking at it, it's pretty fucked. I seem to be unlucky
with gaskets separating cleanly. This one's still got significant lumps
stuck to the crankcase. I'll check out the price of a new one.

If you run the engine backwards, it causes the tank to fill back up, but
you have to fit supeconducting special magnetic shims, and add slick50
    to the oil.

Back in the day, I remember making a TZR head gasket from the back of
a cornflake box. Lasted me over 2000 miles, that did.

Can't you buy a jumbo box of economy cornflakes and put the cash
saved towards some extra indicators or something?

Holy ****. How much? And they do them in the one true colour.
Hah! I don't doubt Daytonas are good, in fact seeing yours ripped up
like that was fairly convincing, but what's £200 quids worth extra in
those over any other Daytonas (which at 300 something quid are still
    fair pricey).

You appear to have missed my question.

How are the £500+ quid ones worth at least £200 more than the already
    expensive £300 ones?

or are you saying (I doubt this) Alex's old pair were the £500+ version
and the £300 version wouldn't have held up?

Ah, well, y'see. It's actually a bit of a cheat. I got the outers from
the Security Evos and am still using the inners from my Evo Sports.
Colour choice was limited, if he had black available at old colour,
racers discount price, believe me, I'd have had them.

However, it isn't *that* bad. I do have red white and black
Law of diminishing returns I suspect. Though I reckon my feet must be
worth the money. You don't ever aim to fall off, but occasionally,
it's inevitable. I like to think my feet will survive, unscathed.
They are also by far and a way the most comfortable boots I've owned.

The differences between the Security Evos and Evo Sports are
mainly construction materials, AFAICT. Carbon inners v plastic inners,
and Kangaroo leather v Cow leather respectively.

    Doesnotcompute says...
Security Evos have Carbon/Kevlar inner boots, and kangaroo skin outers.
As opposed to calf skin outer and moulded plastic inners on the Evo
    Sport.

With Daytona you gets what you pays for.

  20. Fair enough - if a little 'lets tart this 318i up to look like an M3' ;o)
well it's a fair comment - they will at least match in gayness.
don't disagree with this theory at all.

    also a bonus.
Aha. Thanks. Guessing you're happy enough with the evo sports inners not
to splash out the whole hog then....
