Well, 20k is a long gap. And with shimmed cams, the gap does usually
close up, cos most of the wear is on the valve seat. So, I'd say it's
    one of those expected things.

Dunno. Can't remember if it was a manufacturing fault on the cams, or
    an oil feed problem
I will be when I get the forks back from Maxton (promised today)

    A) It looks like inclusions (or holes) in the cam itself. I wonder how
long they have been exactly like that. I would wait till the next service,
take some moe photo's and compare them. you will probably find there is
    absolutly no difference...
Probalby not *bad* at all. t's not like the cams are soft or anything...

    You can. Thanks.

They haven't got the part. ;^)

I've got in touch with the mob who do free parts searches and they're
    sniffing round for me.

I've spoken with the dealer, who say that Kawasaki aren't going to be
interested (which on a six year old bike doesn't really surprise me). I
was mildly surprised by the cost of a new part, at £205. I was expecting
    more than that somehow.

I still want one from a breaker though...

I'm tempted. But I'm certain that the dealer would have mentioned it
when they were last done, suggesting that the problems developed some
time in the last 20K miles.
Indeed. If the parts search doesn't turn up anything I may well go with
this at least in the short term.

  8. I got a quote of 300 quid for a new screen...
Not surprisingly, I went the PowerBronze route at 10% of that.
    Unless it's a common fault...

On some bikes the shims just never go out of adjustment; on others they
only drift out slowly if the engine is used enthusiastically. I'd
suspect yours is the latter, and 20kMls is a bit on the long end of
doing them. What's the recommended interval, 10K, 15K?

I suppose that's part of the problem. Whenever they're checked at 8k,
they never seem to need doing and the next time it's skipped - and
forgotten about the time after that.

Yup, valve recession. Typical on a a zorst valve seat, even with
stellite facings to counteract the effects of the lead free fuul.

    Cheers
