Offroading...on the M25

As per fucking usual the traffic came to a stop in the anticlockwise
roadworks between J28 and the M11. I was in the single lane contraflow and
the only way forward was to use the strip of ground between the central
reservation and the road. A week ago it would have been impossible as it
was so waterlogged. Today was dry enough to give it a go. Fortunately the
V-Strom has some mild off-road ability so the suspension coped OK as I
traversed wheel ruts, mud, gravel, shale (stones used to fill some of the
bigger holes) and even a bit of grass on occasion. I did about 2 miles
before the traffic started again. I HATE the M25 at the moment - but most
of the time its still quicker than the alternatives.

Nick Sanders has ridden round th' world a few times on an R1 and I'll wager
not all of it was on tarmac or concrete.

depends which bit. For sure, coming down the M1, intending to head
clockwise onto the M25, it's far quicker to take what's laughingly
called the "M10" (or used to be) down passed St.Albans instead of the
    "correct" turnoff for the M25.

It pains me to admit it, but on the bike, it can be far quicker using
the Norf Circ. or the 'FOF rather than the M25 depending on where
    you're going to/from.
