The law doesn't make an exception for this, so you wouldn't expect
    plod to do so.

But I'll just add, for the sake of completeness, as it were, although
I've said it before, that frogplod do NOT routinely check forn cars
for the presence of a hi-vis vest. I've been nicked by them several
times since the law came in and not once asked to produce it. As it
happens, there's one in the boot of the estate car, and one in the
glove box of the convertible, so I'd be OK if they did, but they
    haven't.

In the supermarkets, you can purchase those disc shaped, GPS based systems
(available for bikes too, IIRC). I also use "wikango" (free app based on
Coyote, but doesn't require a subscription). Works very nicely thank you. :)

I don't believe the law states where you need to keep the hi-vis but just the
fact you need one. I've been 'controlled' a couple of times and they've never
asked for it to be produced.

Bad form, etc, but on this page it doesn't state where you need to put it:

    http://www.securiteroutiere.gouv.fr/article.php3?id_article=3153

    However on the flash link:

    http://www.securiteroutiere.gouv.fr/article.php3?id_article=3531

It does say that the hi-vis needs to be kept in the interior of the vehicle
_and_ that you should be wearing it before you exit the vehicle. It doesn't
say that if you have it in the boot of a hatchback and you climb over all the
seats to reach it, if that's allowed.
