What's the deal with getting a bike through the MOT with a continental
headlamp? I think my pet MOT tester's a bit picky about them - can I
just place some strategic tape on the headlamp glass to cut out the
    higher part of the beam?

Should be OK for an MoT. GFR#2 was like that when I acquired it. Your
Nordwest has had the demon headlamp bulb twisting mod performed (as have
the GFRs). The divvy might be thus bodged depending on the bulb type. If
all else fails you could source a UK headlamp unit. I have one for a TRX
in the garage from when I was sorting out the Voxan (for MSVA), but I
guess it is significantly different to a diversion unit.

Look at page 19 (PDF page 9). Needs to be that sort of bulb to work
    though.

BTW page 1 describes how to change a Nordwest cam belt. Except that the
writer had a Saturno so forgot to mention that it's best to remove the
ignition sender (two set pins) before you try and remove the rotor.

I can email a scan from the workshop manual if you need it.

My local MOT tester , who is known for doing everything by the book ,
stuck a bit of tape on for me.

I've had bikes go through the MOT with tape, and with the headlamp rotated a
bit. I prefer the tape solution. Also, invisible Sellotape works just as
well as the old black insulting tape.
