During the halcyon days of summer in Scotland (21 in total?) my
    father(SV650), brother(B6), cousin(CBR600RR) and I (B6) took a little
jaunt from Glasgow north to Inverary via Loch Lomond.

We headed out of G'gow along the M8 to the Erskine Bridge, thru'
Dumbarton towards the fabled lochside (we took the low *twistier* road)
the lochside road was wide, smooth and empty'ish which encouraged
    enthusiastic throttle usage.

The B6 had its neck wrung that day I can tell you while my cousin on his
CBR seemed to be keeping up with little effort (expected tho). After LL
we passed numerous cages and what seemed to be a "Tour de France
peloton" type group of peddlers who were holding up many cages and buses.

We duly arrived in Inverary by way of "Rest and be thankful", parked the
bikes, took a pic and made our way to a local hotel for some much needed
    nourishment (200kg@>70mph>2hrs is hard work).

We chewed the fat as we scoffed our bacon, lorne, egg, links, potato
scones, beans and coffee. Discussing world politics, national
economics, weather, dream bikes and the vital statistics of that Venus
type goddess walking past the window......then took a crap and sauntered
back to the bikes refreshed and ready for the ride home.

My cousin invited me to try his '04 plate CBR600RR as he "of course"
couldn't wait to throw his leg over my stunning example of a thouroughly
    thrashed-to-almost-death '96 B6.

The CBR was teeeny, weeny, mini, meeeny. My elbows were resting on my
knees, I was lying across the tank and laughing to myself as I mentaly
pictured the view, from behind, the single underseat pipe looks like yer
arse hole. The bike was ..... sharp. The brakes were pin sharp, the
bike turned in as you thought about the corner and when it hit 10-11k it
REALLY went quickly upto 13-14k, it felt planted in bends and was in
every way a super sports machine which would be an absolute hoot on
track and, if in the hands of a competent pilot, would be VERY quick
round a track. The seat felt like a plank of wood tho', unanimously
agreed by father, bro and me.

My cousin said of my B6 "Aye, it's interesting to ride although the
brakes are a bit scary, comfy tho'".

After the CBR I knew I needed a replacement and bought a veeerrryy nice
    '99 VTR1000F.

    Mmmmmmmmmmm, low rev torque/power.

    It goes.

    Well.

    Too well, deceptively so.

My cousin had a shot of the VTR today and now wants a litre twin as
well. He is going to advertise the CBR6RR next week.

    Litre twin.

    YKIMS.

I got a terrible shock th'other day seeing that rather bashed one owned
by the tattoed, lumpy, pierced chap.

I slowed down for a couple of miles as a result.

    OH!

Do you know of a supplier of plug sockets?

I can't bear to spend money in Honda.

Would probably take £7k even for a quick sale. Futura going for £5200 that I
fancy and would rather not have both at once. Or I should say the wife would
    rather I didn't have both :(

It is borderline, a 750, but you can play with the big boys too :)

  19. Yes, well, there are exceptions, you know ;-)

Seriously, though, I think it's true that the majority of big twins have
soul, and practically every triple ever made, two-stroke or four-stroke,
oozes character in bucketsful, but precious few fours.

    Z1, GPZ900R, ZX9 (there's a pattern there...), FJ Twelve, VFR, Trophy
1200 (bias here), Honda 400 Four, (ditto), R1 and Blade....

Probably a few others.... Oh yeah, some of the BMW Ks.

But in percentage terms, not many.
