The ones at work have += and -= buttons, and work slightly different
    to normal.

That said, I haven't had a calculator on my desk for a good 15 years.

It is up to him what he calls it Shirley?

Unless you have decided to take on the role of The New Adam and go
around naming everything on our behalf?

My octolator is coming up for twenty years old. And it is still on
    its original battery.

Heh, the 'first' scientific calculator I had to go to school with was a
hand me down Commodore one that my dad bought when my eldest sister was
at school, ~1975. It was LED rather than LCD and took nearly a minute to
do a sin, cos or tan calculation. Picture here

    I was actually
quicker with the old log books.

  7. I found my old Thornton slide rule the other day, the one that had trig
    scales on.

Plus my old Thornton SeaNav slide rule.

Oh and my old Airtours CPR-1 Wizz Wheel.

Thank Ged for calculators and GPS.

My one and only attempt at being an entrepeneur was to try and corner
the market in slide rules [1]... just as cheap calculators hit the
    High Street :(

I still have a few in a box in the loft or somewhere.
