Oberon to Goulburn

    Re the above thread a couple of weeks ago, went through that section last
    week and found an excellent bit of road, there was a short stretch of gravel
    in good condition, sign said 5klm but I did not think it was that
    long..............there were roadworks going on at the gravel bit and it is
    believed that it will be all tared by Christmas this
    year.............judging by the number of bikes I passed going the other
    way, lots of other riders also know the joys of this great bit of
    road...............it added about 80klms to my trip from Singleton to
    Batemans Bay by not going through Sydney but was by far a much more
    enjoyable ride, I am guessing the travel time would be about the same either
    way..............one note of caution, there were quite a number of well
    behaved trucks carting wood chips(I think) and also log trucks on that
    section...........
