Yes, I know that Herts your sensibilities, but they are run by a bunch of
    Cheshunts.

I think moving may have got me off their list. Down to 3 CC now,
Halifax, IF[1] and Amex. Amex maybe getting the push if they don't
pull their useless corporate fingers out and sort out the unauthorised
    charge on my account.

[1] Not used it for a while mind.

Unlike MSDW, and briefly Goldfish, you don't get 1% cashback on the full
monthly spend, only the first £200, which is rather pathetic. Just to annoy
them, by keeping the account active but unprofitable, I have registered it
as the default card for Paypal. That probably averages about £10 a month
and the bill is paid by DD so I don't have to do anything.

The Egg Money mastercard is accepted everywhere. As I've had it for ages I
still get 1% on everything. Since the citibank takeover T&Cs have changed,
though. It used to be cheap to use overseas but they are doing the
surcharge thing now. Anyone taking out a new card gets lower cashback. Citi
are trying to sell Egg, so Barclaycard will probably take that over too...

I got an offer from Amex last week.

Had a quick read of the T&Cs and saw their annual charge for that card was
    £250 a year.

It did include annual travel insurance, access to executive lounges at
airports, home emergency cover and a telephone concierge for anything I
needed arranging but the number of times I'd use any of that doesn't make it
    worth it.

Oh, and someone out there still thinks I'm earning £75k a year. (I wish)

I'm a great fan of Kyocera Mita printers.

You could get a Kyocera FS-C5100DN for around £300
So far for 410 monochrome and 1065 full colour A4 pages with the toners
that came with it are sitting at:
    Black 24%
    Cyan 11%
    Magenta 17%
    Yellow 18%

Replacement cartridges are about £100 for each colour and £70 for black
and white. They claim 4000 pages for the colour and 5000 for black and
    white.

For mono laser their FS-1350DN is great.

At the moment, it seems a choice between OKI and Dell.

If you have an older Kyocera Mita printer then be prepared to have "fun"
trying to get it working with Win7. (especially 64 bit)

I've done it by using their very basic, cut down drivers.

Their official Win7 64 bit drivers just say "Not designed for this OS, ****
    off!"

Because a Dell with a full loaf of toner might be up for grabs shortly -
3010 series I think. Hardly used (not because it is shite (they say)-
but because it was a back-up printer. Known history on a maintenance
    contract.

I don't need full-on xxxx pages per month so full toner cartridges
should last me for the rest of this decade.

As I said earlier, the only known issues I know from this printer type
are cracked plastics on the paper feed covers (mainly due to ham-fisted
ops not ensuring the various tags and levers are properly located before
    slamming the covers shut)

As it is tall-ish, it has fairly small footprint as well, which is good
as I have to share a desk with it.
