Theoretically, 5-8 watts can be generated walking at 4mph without sapping
the energy of the walker, by absorbing the 30% of gravitational potential
generated by body mass as it shifts onto a heel. In practice, 4 watts may
    be a practical goal.

Enough to run a gps and palm pda running mapping/waypointlogging. Just.

The question is whether you can do it with nice neat no moving parts stuff
or whether you have to resurrect Heath Robinson for the task.

Sketches on a postcard to the usual address.

  6. Bugger peizos - a perfectly good solution can be found by simple
compressed air piped from the bootheels to mini pulse turbine generators
mounted at the back of the wearer's buttocks.

If it went even slightly wrong you would indeed be buggered.
On the list of Things One Won't Want Between One's Buttocks, brake
    fluid must rate pretty highly.

I can get to this from work now. Hmm, I thought that my gateway is in
France, but I may be wrong.

nice thought, but I can access it, and all traffic from here is routed
    through Paris.

I can just see the poor soldier who has had his radio battery reduced to
bugger all because of his super-duper "smart boots", trapped and hiding
and unable to contact base for backup as his tiny battery is dead and
his only way of making contact is to get out of his hiding place and jog
around in front of the enemy.

    Suppository!

Anyway, whats wrong with attaching magnetised steel weights to your
balls, which then act as part of a generator as they swing as you walk?

Simple, all in one unit. Could be fitted internally at the same time as
    you go for the snip.

I can think of only two ways that could happen.

    1. The rider behind you is indeed WAAAY too close.
    2. The "pucker" effect has gone into overdrive and the motorbike is now
    internal.
