    OK, OK - here's what I'll do.

Could anybody here who is interested in a trip to the ring this year drop me
an e-mail and let me know.

Wait a second! Here's what I'll need to know ...

    1. How many of you there are (people and vehicles, obviously you can't have
more vehicles than people unless you're planning to do quite a hefty
round-trip or a lot of walking back and forth).

    2. Whether you'd prefer to camp or stay in a hotel.

    3. Any preferred weekend (the trip will likely to be heading out on a
Friday and back again on the Monday, with two full days at the ring).

    4. Any weekend, between April and September, when you can not make it.

    5. An indication if you wouldn't mind driving a van there and/or back as a
    support vehicle.

The trip is likely to be a ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge followed by a ride
to the ring and I think we'd be looking at about 250-350 quid per person for
the ferry crossing and the hotel accommodation plus everybody chipping in a
little towards the support vehicle. On top of that there'll be food, booze
and track time to be paid for plus everybody will need to have a debit or
credit card with a couple of grand on because, in the event of a crash,
vehicle recovery, safety cars and helicopter lifts need to be paid for.

I'm not promising anything here, but I will compile a list of who can go
when and work out the best dates for us and then monitor the ring site to
see when this years track times come out.

If there's no real interest I'll not bother.

All you have to worry about are the corners.

And the straights as well, obviously.

    But apart from that ...

So, you coming along? Seriously, you can ride my bike, I'll take my car and
we'll swap ends at half time.

Considering the nature of the road, I would have thought that's quite low -
    or isn't it?

Considering that it just attracts people who specifically want to see
how fast they can go, that doesn't seem a surprising number.

Too close to call, I reckon.

I'd absolutely love to but I don't think Anya will want her honeymoon
to be a pillion ride to the Ride.
