Down south they`ve dumped the VEL data - too many hits!

Same colour scheme but mines only an ST1100 :-(

Well Gary my problem with that is the Govmint don't spend the money on road
transport etc. It's taxation without representation and it only happens
because drones like you are prepared to enforce it because *it's part of the
    job*.
You are not unionised but you have an effective staff rep body. Nowt
stopping a vote to refuse all IR related work.

  3. That's the ones. The lurking cars are there ready to chase criminals.
I mean, Camberwell, fair enough, there might be a few around, but
really, criminals? In Cambridge? Good grief!

Until you find the number plates have disappeared off your cage one night
and some gits about to get you busted...

That seems like a lot to me. Are you confident of that number JP?

We certainly get loads of hits on VEL but we are selective about which ones
we pull. A fair proportion of them have no insurance, MOT or Driving
licence so stopping a few is worthwhile.

As I replied to JP earlier, the main reason to stop the cars without tax is
to check to see if they are insured and road worthy. I am sure you would
agree that catching the drivers with no insurance is a useful exercise.
After all they inflate the price of insurance for the rest of us and if you
get knocked off the bike by one don't expect much of a payout for the
    knackered leathers, helmet and bike.

Need to join a force with a bigger fleet budget mate. Hopefully by the time
you get one the stupid faults that Sonic are responsible for will be fixed.

It depends where we take it. In some areas we get hits on about 1 in 10 but
1 in 20 would be a fair average for us too.

I don't have any real problem with this. My bikes and paperwork can
generally pass a cursory examination as to legality so I am quite
confident that just chugging down the street and getting flattened by
WVM won't see me with points on me licence and I am happy to see the
janitors make sure that he is the same before showing him to the stairs.

More to the point how much of it would they give back to you if they wiped
out these dodgy risks overnight? Feck all i imagine.

Pretty much so in my experience. Its going to depend on times and
places used of course (hence they do need to be sited correctly). You
would get a much lower proportion if you did the M25 in rush hour for
example where the proportion of company cars is *far* higher.

To be fair its my personal issue one - had it from new and noone else
rides it (I`ve got both sets of keys!). And its parked next to my
    personal T5 as well!

My ones just new, 400 miles or so and is personal issue and if anyone else
rides it he'll get a boot up the arse(someone took the gaffers bike out and
smacked it into a central reservation causing £1500 worth of damage to the
wheels, head bearings and spindle, not a popular chap). I haven't driven a
car at work other than to pick up large bulky things for the last 5 years.

  16. Ooh - who's a flash bugger. Something tells me no one would dare use
any of your personal transport. The mere threat of having to clean it
back to JP standards would be a big enough deterrent.

Oh, we get them here in Canterbury as well (crims, as well as coppers),
except here we've actually got a full on permanent, operating 24/7, network
of lamp post mounted ANPR cameras.

Every now and again we seem to get a day where about 4 plod bikes are
stationed at varying points around the ring road, and once something of
interest passes a camera, they are despatched to pull them in.

Anti terrorist legislation was used to break up anti-war protests.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/antiwar/story/0,12809,998860,00.html

and more recently, demonstrations outside the arms fair in the Docklands.

    http://www.liberty-human-rights.org...2003/action-to-protect-right-to-protest.shtml

It seems to be peaceful protests == terrorism. Potentially banged up
without trial, well, as long as they like.

Good point well made - along with the fact that the vehicles are at
work but the keys are home with me!
