    Not completely true.

AFAIK, It's primarily about linking known accident locations with routes
    traveled by the insured party..

Anything that taxes school run types is great by me.

I heard that it will be monitoring the number of times the driver turns
round, red faced, to scream at the kids in the back of the car and also the
number of attempts to get into a parking space.

Future versions will compare driving against the given time of the month and
raise/lower premiums on some form of monthly cycle. Truly a case of pushing
    insurance costs into the red.

TBH I haven't done that for a couple of years. Though one of the
youngest's first complete sentences was 'which bloody lane are you
    meant to be in'
I have power steering now so it's down to about 10 attempts.

My son's first full sentence was "Did you spill my pint?". It took me
three weeks coaching to get him to say it, and the first time he used it
he directed it at his very posh grandmother.

My company Golf has a 'management system'[1][2] fitted. My firm can tell
exactly where I am and for how long at any time of the day or night.

I don't really care if it's fitted or not, because I don't take the piss
    out of my employers.

[1] www.minorplanet.com made and fitted it. It gives all sorts of
information from the vehicle to a base unit via GSM.
[2] Tracker/eye-in-the-cab, call it what you like.

  9. The last courier company I worked at had it in their vans and were going
to roll it out to bikes just as I left. The idea was that they could
"give work out more effectively" and then you had the opportunity of
buying maps at £150 a pop.

Exactly my perspective. And that's why I really get the arse when
people get narked over lateness, or over-long lunches, or running
    errands in company time.

Me too. Only trouble is, *my* management don't want me managing my
    staff like this.

Me too. My manager is fine with it.

One of the first things I told him was that as long as the work was
somehow done, I wouldn't mind if they spent all day in the pub. And
since they've got a 100% track record of delivering projects OTOSOB,
he's got no problems with that.

    Ditto.

Actually my manager wouldn't be stupid enough to complain as everyone's
hours would go back down to 37 in a heartbeat, then he'd be one
    seriously fucked mofo.

It's good when they actually realise this.

There are quite a few cute females working in bike shops now too, some
    of them on my area.

I don't see it as someone looking over my shoulder, they just want the
efficiency that a rep being out there so many hours per day will bring.
In some ways having the tracker has worked to my advantage. I had one
stroppy customer say she had never seen a rep since the last one left. I
told my boss that if he checked my daily sales reports and cross reffed
them against the tracker read-out he'd find I'd been there 4 times. He
did and I was in the clear.

They don't care how long I spend in a call, as long as I get the
results. There's ways of losing time, as a few reps in other firms I've
worked for have shown over the years. Being in the bike trade I can
always visit customers on my bike, which doesn't have a tracker fitted,
I can leave the car where the bike dealers are and walk to somewhere
close by or catch a bus. It's all been done before, I'm just not stupid
enough to take the piss by trying it on.

Our trackers have been fitted for about a year, only one person has been
questioned about the time he usually sets off in the morning. Even I
have to agree that 11am is a little bit on the late side.

I know. It doesn't stop some people or other entities calling Gloucester
the South West. Hence my query.
