What's idiotic is Melbourne drivers who on approaching said shopping
centers just don't slow down to a safe speed.

What do you need a sign for, are we all that stupid. Yes I know, key
in ignition, engine switched on - brain switched off. Go Aussie GO!

Its a speed LIMIT, your allowed to drive under it! I think you find
that most people don't mind, they are probably glad someone had the
courage and leadership to slow down...people are such lemmings that
    way.

Hang on a sec. Is the NSW youre referring to, located on this planet? Cause
its doesnt seem to be the same one youre talking about.

They will quote the same old rubbish of "To save lives blah blah etc etc." of course
but to be honest it doesn't make much sense to me. They are trying to make all of
society pay for the stupidity of the few.

Most of the school 40 km/h zones have signs at their ends saying 60km/h
.... and the signed speed limit applies untill the next sign. So I think
you'll find most of the main raods will remain 60km/h ... There will not
be many places that don't have a 60km/h sign at the begining of a 'built
up area' ... at least that is my experience. Even Tibooburra has 60km/h
    signs ...

Or the lowest common denominator. Like not drinking beer in public,
letting you kids have a beer at home (or watered down wine) ... Yep
banned for all because of a few.

As far as I knew it was legal for a kid in Qld to drink alcohol at home.

Get used to it. Once everyone has got used to the new 50 limit, and revenue
collection falls off, they'll drop it to 40, rake in another few mill, then
    go round again.

You have a touching faith in the radicalism of your fellow humans.
Fairer than... huh, pulling you up and sticking a gun in your face for a
    funds transfusion?

Get used to it. Once everyone has remembered the new 50 limit, and
revenue collection falls off, they'll drop it to 40, rake in another few
mill, then go round again. And again. And that's the way things will be
forever, since most Australians are pathetic whinging sheep.

These fucking cameras are more addictive than pokies - they come with a
built-in bleeding-heart rationale for persecuting road users.

You can add Benalla to that list as of 3 or 4 months ago.
Interestingly the traffic in that region now covered by the 50 zone
rarely does more than 45 anyway (lots of parked cars and pedestrians
    about).
