    so why have e-tags ?

why not just do it through your rego plates ?

ie. have an account or even your credit card linked to your rego plate that
    debits when you use tolls

    1) Cost. When the OCR fails a human is required. Imagine the reconciliation
required where the OCR works on a couple of gantries, but not others.

    2) The system works on a per trip basis, as distinct from fee per gantry.
This requires a very large amount of processing, especially to clear peak
times, so much so, your trip may not be processed until the following day
or later. Requiring more human intervention can further delay this process.

They tell you to silicon up the edges etc to make it a bit more waterproof.
I think it was in the handout that I originally got. Twas quite a while ago
    though.

I just use the RTA E-Tag, it works, it's simple, why not? If it doesn't go
off, or it's raining, ring up later and make sure it's logged. With any luck
they miss you all together and you're sweet.

They landed a person on the moon decades ago so surely they can get OCR
devices to work 99.9% of the time. Hey they have them working when you dont
have an e-tag so surely they can do it all the time
Well if they debit it to an e-tag then they debit it to some sort of account
    based on your rego number.

Basically the truth is they dont give a **** about motorists and especially
    motorcyclists

Where is Guy Fawkes when you need him ?

Not at that time, Boxer. Kennett and Stockdale were government and God,
rolled into one slimy little ball.

Do a google search and see who pays Stockdales wages these days.

  11. What are you supposed to do if you are a tourist from another state?

A Liberal State Parliament is not the "Liberal Party" the party has very
little control over elected Parliamentarians particularly ones in Cabinet.

Did a Google on "Stockdale" and I am still in the dark, who is he?

My QLD e-tag works on all tolls in QLD NSW and Victoria, I don't know if the
    other states have tolls.

Their OCR tech is pretty good, but not that good. There is still quite a
bit of human intervention for the trips that don't process correctly. It
would be much more expensive without the E-Tags.

They can, and will do that, but again it comes down to cost.
Exactly. All they care about is enjoying the greatest margin possible.

It doesn't. That's a significant part of why "some of you"
    are so against it.

Then there's the small issue of personal privacy.

Don't bring your e-tag to Victoria on your bike. They'll charge you tolls.

They have "Liberal Party" next to their names on the ballot paper and the
Electoral Commission website. Who else can we believe?

They are talking about having day passes, same as the Vics do, but so
    far it's only talk.

No toll roads, no tags in WA. On my last trip to Vic I ignored them and they
appear to have ignored me. Except they sent me a $128 fine for doing 104 in
    a 100 zone.
