well if protest rides don't work we need to start a real campain.

    We kidnap a driver.

send in a video of him or her pleading to raise the BAC to 1%, allow
footpath parking for bikes, raise the speed limit by 20Kmh.

If they don't conceed we make the hostage ride a bike and put a video of
them doing it on the internet.

It might not do anything but it could be fun!

A fellow named Aldis Alzols (sp?) wrote an excellent paper on how to
lobby politcians. Simon Disney, who was Meg Lees' electoral officer, was
a participant in a bike group on Yahoo called "Melb-moto". He was handy
with tips etc. on how to lobby politicians. When Lees got the flick from
the Democrats as leader, so did he and he disappeared off the radar. I
s'pose if anyone wishes to scroll back through Melb Moto's archives,
they can pick up his posts on this sort of thing. And maybe a link or
    the info for Aldis' paper.

But yeah, best way is a concerted letter writing campaign. A petition
with a thousand signatures requires but one single response. A thousand
letters require significantly greater resources to respond to, and make
    a bigger impact.

The most obvious tip, when letter writing, or lobbying, is not to insult
or abuse the politician or public servant official that you wish to
elicit favorable results from. Like you, they're human and do arc up
when someone has a go at them. And when in a position of power, they
    simply say, "stuff you mate."

    1% seems a bit 'ambit'
Perhaps we could start with 0.1%

Pisshead Pete is of the opinion:
Dunno about you, but I've still got my Black n Decker (actually it's a
Bosch, but who's counting) drill, and that's all you need for a good
kneecapping. You can do a bodgy with a lead pipe (a la Tonya Harding) but
only a drill *really* gets the job done. A shotgun isn't so much a
kneecapping tool as an instantaneous amputation device.

To quote a great thinker of our time, "That I am conversant with this level
of detail should serve as an indication of why the wise man does not ask me
    questions about MS-Windows."

  6. OK, I couldn't sleep last night so posted this to aus.cars...
    <http://groups.google.com.au/groups?...m=>

or http://evilurl.com/urinescrotumTIT for the evil newsreaders.

The replies should be interesting. It'll probably degenerate into a Shane
and Spooky versus the world thread tho'!

Aldis did have a few pages on the web himself, some time ago. IIRC, it
was quite good stuff if you believe in that sort of thing.

Most don't bother with the "mate".

As for being human, I'd want to see some evidence.

Pisshead Pete is of the opinion:
It is. Nice 14.4V jobbie, keyless chuck, drives a 10mm bit pretty hard.
Good weight balance. Only thing it's missing is a hammer action, but I
don't beat shit out of too much masonry, and I've got a cheap 500W corded
    drill for that.

I think we should take this discussion over to aus.powertools.fetish...

    Update as of 25th November.

Received reply from John Aquilina yesterday.

He is not able to legally release the transcript as the document is not
a public document as it has not yet been tabled in Parliament! (This
grammer is not mine - it's what is in the letter!)
Quote "Unfortuantly I have no discretion in the matter".

The person I originally spoke to in Staysafe indicated that what they do
normally is to bundle up all the transcripts along with any results from
the inquiry and table them all at once - which to me means that you
can't see anything until it's all over!
