    PLEASE DISTRIBUTE

See attached Response to the Road Safety Roundtable setting out the
"directions for road safety in NSW" as a result

Those attending the roundtable were highly critical of several
    aspects introduced.

It had all the characteristics of "NSW Government Consultation" -
i.e. the "findings" had already been determined and the "consultation"
was just so the govt could say they consulted, but in fact were
just telling people what they had already decided.

Primarily it appeared to be seeking "approval" for covert speed
cameras and Victorian style very low margins on speeding and all
the puppets were speaking their lines.

I spoke to the definition for "speeding" used by the RTA and to the
lack of credibility of their "speed is a factor in crashes, ergo
it is is cause of crashes" dogma.

Covert speed cameras are now on the agenda, despite little agreement
    on them from the participants

We have managed to get road surface listed as a factor for motorcycles

Please make comments on this and email them direct to the MCC of
NSW Chairman at or forward them to the MCC
    of NSW office.

We are keen to hear from all riders on any part of the attached
    response

We are seeking the widest possible feedback
