Well thats a new one..reducing prices for a category because they cause less
    accidents than other categories.

This userpays concept doesn't cut it for bikes tho? I understand that bike
    greenslip prices subsidise cars.

So what are the stats for bikes:-
    1) How many accidents involving 3rd parties are caused by the motorcycle?

    2) what is the average and total $ value of personal injury claims where the
    motorbike is at-fault.

    (Sydney and NSW)

I have had this discussion many times. Can I carry 6 people in my bike ? If
I plough into a car what are the chances of personal injury to the people in
    the car ?

The only thing is how many pillion passengers get injured on bikes and are
these accidents more severe then the average accidents involving cars ?

I believe the MCC has that information, but I don't think it's on the
    website.

I'll see what I can find.

The 4WD review is listed at top of this URL:-

"In response to a recommendation from the Legislative Council Standing
Committee on Law and Justice, the MAA reviewed the CTP claims experience of
4WDs and produced the following report.

    http://www.maa.nsw.gov.au/default.aspx?MenuID=138

    "

Perhaps the Standing Committtee can be imposed upon to seek a similar review
    of the motorcycling experience.

Page 11 onwards has some bike stats.

    Am perplexed by Page 7:-

    "
The analysis was based on the claims experience under the new motor
    accidents
compensation scheme, which commenced on 5 October 1999. New scheme data was
chosen for a number of reasons.
    <snip>
.. Claim sizes differ between the old and new schemes and inclusion of old
    scheme
data would incorrectly suggest that 4WDs were associated with lower claims
    cost.
    <SNIP>

But isn't that the outcome of the analysis anyway? Maybe I missed something
    (not enough coffee...).

i think at what its saying in general terms when a 4x4 has an accident its
bull bar generally gets buffed out while the kids in the excel get burried
in the car because they couldnt get them out.

obviously some polly got a nice new 4x4 out of that stupid suggestion
