I think he's attributing a (generally non positive) stereotype to you as
a reason for not being able to give blood. Whereas it could be that you
were in England during a certain period ..

You know what really shits me?

After a rape they give you all these effing tests, some of them again and
again - HIV, Heps, Syphilis, Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia. Great.

So all the tests come back negative, right? And they say "Yay, lucky you!
Off you go, be happy, you're ok". So off you go, breathing a
    hu-fucking-mungous sigh of relief.

So then the blood bank says **** OFF, we don't want to know you for at least
    a year since your attack!

But - hello? I've been given the all clear..... Isn't that good enough????
Apparently it's supposed to be good enough for ME, but it's not good enough
for the Blood Bank. This worries me. And this is why I say **** EM!

So I went again, after 12 months had expired. I didn't even mention the
attack coz it'd been over 12 months. And the pricks knocked me back cos it'd
been more than 4 hours since I'd had my hearty breakfast. Fer ****'s sake,
how much do they actually WANT/NEED blood????? Not very bloody much, I
    reckon....

I totally sympathize with you Betty! :-(

The Blood Bank are as bad as government departments when it comes to
    bloody mindedness! [2]

I used to donate on a regular basis but haven't for some time now.

We used to have a small volunteer run donation centre in an unused room
out the back of the local hospital but the city centric Red Cross in
their infinite wisdom decided that country towns such as us deserved a
2nd rate service (or in most cases none at all).

It took almost two years before the van they promised us actually
managed to include our town on the route. Then when they did the
    frequency was woeful.

So now instead of being able to donate one day every fortnight (and the
people there were flat out) we get a visit from a mobile van once every
    6 months or so.

And instead of a room with chairs to wait in, and some coffee, tea,
biscuits (and donated cakes and stuff from the local bakery and red
cross ladies) we have to stand outside in the rain or the heat.

To make it worse the van can't handle as many people so even if we did
all that it takes 4 times as long for them to handle the same number of
    people.

Any wonder most of the people around here who used to donate don't
    bother any more?

Oh... it's 50kms to the nearest 'real' blood bank now *sigh* [1]

[1] Yes this still pisses me off. There are lots of good people in Red
Cross but there are some real cretins. They ask and ask and ask for
people to donate. They have a big campaign to say things like we are so
so short of blood but they close donation centers at the exact same time
as the campaign. Talk about rubbing salt into the wound!

    [2] Intentional bad pun.

Ask for it when you donate.

My last hearty breakfast was on Sunday. I don't do breakfast during the
week. They never ask me that.

They've got 441 pints of me though.

Errm Betty; you may not have encountered Cletus before but try to imagine a
village-idiot yet faaaar more idiotic (and without a village)....
    Got it?
Well Cletus is stupider than that.
In fact he's so so stupid he's too stupid to even realise that he's stupid!!
    Incredible I know, but true.

This is not a "man" you want to give any credence to.
Just ignore the rantings of the moron and know in yourself that you have
    nothing you have to justify.

Bit like having all the village idiots in the world living in a
village by themselves then he'd be the village idiot?

    Nah, that would be George..
