  2. You only see frozen waterfalls there in the winter and it can get
quite cold in the UK during wintertime as well but Iceland and the UK
are much warmer in the wintertime than Scandinavia or Eastern Europe
    (or Canada)
No, Iceland´s population is getting richer all the time and the
economy is among the strongest in Europe, well above EU standards.
Fishing accounts for ca 11% of the GDP and the fish stocks are well
managed and are not in any danger of collapsing (we threw you guys out
of our fishing grounds before you managed to ruin them)
    Yes, much better.

Not at all, because it is your money, not the council payers money.

I can well understand how one might object to it, given that parents are
being strongly discouraged from taking kids out of school during term
time. However, looked at in issolation arranging for English children in
Bangladesh to continue to receive an English education has quite a lot
going for it. Obviously it's to the children's advantage if they can keep
up with their peers at home, and it's to everyone's advantage if they
continue to speak English on a regular basis.

I'm not sure I would support this proposal myself, but it's clearly not
    corruption.

Maybe it,s just me (incoming) but I think it is disgraceful and corrupt

Crap idea? Possibly. Disgraceful? I wouldn't have said so. Corrupt?
Absolutely not, by any reasonable use of the word.

IF the councilors backing the scheme have ties to the Bangladeshi
community[1] it MIGHT be self-serving. That's the worst I can say.

Precisely what about this suggestion is it that you think is corrupt?

corrupt, a. Rotten; depraved, wicked; influenced by bribery.

Bear in mind that if there is genuine corruption involved, then a criminal
offence has almost certainly been committed. I think that you're using
the word "corrupt" improperly. I don't doubt that you have strong
feelings on this subject, but you shouldn't bandy around terms like that.
Not only does it tend to make you look foolish (or ignorant) but it
devalues the word, so that people will be less inclined to take it (and
    you) seriously in future.

[1] Over and above simply being their elected representative(s).

  8. Iceland may be a few degrees colder than the UK, which is normal given
that Iceland is much farther north, but the difference is not that
great, the mean temperature of the coldest month is above 0°C and if
the UK had any mountains there would be glaciers there too, at least
    in Scotland.
The economy is growing every year now.
You mean that domestically generated income is not income?
Yeas, the eating out and alcohol are probably some of the most
expensive items here in Iceland, but many other things are not that
more expensive than in the UK and some very important parts of the
cost of living are much cheaper here than in the UK (hot and cold
water, electriciry, fuel etc. in addition to the cost of housing and
    may other things)
