Relying on that is what got me my last ticked.

I've seen maybe 2 cameras that weren't in it, got a couple of false
warnings, and the variable speed cameras on the M25 aren't in it (!)

    Apart from that its fine.

I use the zoned databases with my own icons that look like the speed
limit signs so I know what I should be doing, and have the warnings set
for increasing distances the faster the limit is.

And if they are going to start charging ?19 a year for it, I'll pay it,
    a bargain :)

I've fiddled with it quite a lot, and, whilst it's reasonably accurate,
there's too many false alarms and enough unknown sites to make it very
    risky to rely on it.

I prefer to rely on the good old fashioned mk1 eyeball to sort out
speed traps. The benefit of this over technology is that you might
pick up an unmarked car or a cop with a hand held device.

Aye, I spotted this fucker a couple of seconds too late to wipe off
enough speed. Lesson learned and all that.

Yebbut doesn't the database require the good offices of you lot to
inform the keepers of anything new and fresh you may see while out and
about not concentrating where you are going, it don't just appear there
    by magic does it?

    Yes indeed it does.

Which begs the question why they haven't produced a nice little program
that you can run, that has just one big button that you press to mark
the GPS spot of a new camera.

Cause at the moment you'd have to stop, bookmark that position (maybe
give it a name) and then set off again.

So let me get this right.

You are riding down the road in whatever manner you deem appropriate and
you espy a Gatso and notice that your sat nav hasn't gone beep so you
stop and get off your bike and spend five minutes playing with your
thingy and then set off on your ride again and will do this each and
every time you come across an unnamed Gatso?

    Fucking mad you are.

Not with mine you don't. Just press a big FOAD button on the thing as
    you drive by.
Automatically updates the central database next time I synch it with the
    interwebthingummyjig.

  18. Hmmm... I'm surprised the authorities haven't latched onto a spoiler
method for that. Multiple erroneous sites being entered would end up
making users trust it less and ignoring it, thereby leading to increased
    revenue.

I am pretty sure there are checks and balances to check and remove
spurious entries. After all the temp roadworks sites come and go pretty
accurately as far as I can tell.
