I know a guy in WA who has done more than 600. someone over East has
    done 1000.

1000 would require one donation every two weeks for 40 years. I did my
first 50 in whole blood, max of four per year.

Some people just suck. It should be pretty obvious that I'm not one of
    those.

  7. What did they give you as a prize(though I am thinking prize isn't the
    right word)?

In South Oz I bet they'd give you *two* stubbies of stout.

(Haven't donated there for years but when I did the Red Cross was
sponsored by Coopers and as well as tea, coffee, juice, the beverage
    list included Coopers Stout....)

  12. This is because Coopers is such lousy stuff, they can't sell it to people
with good taste, so they give it away

If you get a prize, it's not really a donation, is it?

Cup of tea and a cake. I had one slice and left the rest for
    distribution.

They do give out "Milestone" awards. I got a lapel badge saying 500
donations. Once a year they have a donor recognition night and give
    something more substantial.

  15. I was telling the kids about it yesterday at dinner and our 7 year old
asked if receiving a blood donation gives you that persons dna. I
thought that was pretty bright for his age.
