now it doesn't even roll

  1. it's hard to roll a motorcycle with one wheel on it.

the front forks were dropped and the front wheel pulled, taking the poor
little 175 down from being a rolling chassis to a one wheeled frame
supported by a hydraulic jack. but that's a good thing.

tomorrow new pirelli sirac on/off road tire for the front wheel and new
oil seals for the fork tubes are on the menu. should have it all
reinstalled by this time tomorrow (famous last words). then pull the
rear wheel to change its tire and probably put on a fresh chain since
that has to be futzed with the get the rear wheel off anyway. that's
going to make a big difference getting the worn dunlop knobbies off and
some fresh modern rubber on there, both in looks and performance.
it's strange but the more dismantled the bike is, the further along it
is towards being put back together for final assembly.

"hey come here and check out the new bike"; it's fun seeing the
perplexed expression on peoples' faces when they see this dismantled
thing in the garage when they are expecting to see something that looks
like a motorcycle. it'll be even better once it's back together and
putting around so they can see the finished transition. i look forward
    to that day myself.
