Posing questions to folks who are asking you to explain really isn't
helping your case.

 

I thought Linux was sufficiently isolated from Unix that it avoided
the patent issue anyway? Or would it be a 'look & feel' type of patent
infringement (if such a thing exists)?

 

The real risk isn't the reality, it's the legal battles & FUD.

 

We'd just download a hooky copy off the internet and not pay for it. Kind
of like what some people do with windows.

 

Linux isn't designed to self-destruct when it spots you're using a hooky
licence. Yet.

I've just bought a new fridge/freezer actually, so will not be in the
market for a new one just yet. I'm not sure I want one with an ARM
processor running Linux. I have enough issues with those at work, but
I suspect that's just me writing crap software!
