I suspect I'll be attacked by the usual suspects for this, but,

If you live anywhere near London, please bookmark Mar 31 evening. Here's
    the Ace Cafe PR

IF YOU RIDE A MOTORBIKE OR SCOOTER

WHATEVER YOU HAD PLANNED FOR TUESDAY, 31ST MARCH @ 3PM CANCEL IT!

MEET AT ACE CAFE LONDON 3PM FOR 4:15PM RIDE OUT TO TRAFALGAR SQUARE.

    The Reason.
In August 2008, Westminster City Council, in direct opposition to every
Transport Authority in the UK who see powered two-wheelers as the
solution to inner-city pollution & congestion, but also the Conservative
Party to whom they claim to belong, and by using the flimsiest of
justification of supposedly "recouping" the £23,000 cost of providing
more parking spaces, introduced under an "experimental traffic order"
what is now recognised as the most dangerous piece of anti-
motorcycle/scooter legislation ever seen in the world...charging for
    parking.

    The Opposition.
In response to this blatant removal of a privilege enjoyed by riders all
over the world, the No To Bike Parking Tax Campaign was formed in
September 2008, and has steadily exposed the misleading statements of
the protagonists of this scheme to both their own fellow Councillors and
the public, discovering that since its inception, it has already raked
in over £2.5m from hard-working, honest and conscientious citizens, this
    figure raising every day

Abetted by a series of on-street demonstrations the likes of which have
never been seen by this Council in its history, the Campaign has
attracted unequivocal support from both the motorcycle community by way
of BMF & MAG, and the mainstream by way of the much-heralded Tax Payers'
    Alliance.

    The Effect.
As a result, the Campaign has been offered the opportunity to present
its findings to a select committee of Westminster Councillors on 31st
    March at 7pm.

    The Opportunity.
This also affords us the opportunity to demonstrate the real depth of
resentment towards this tax, and for that, we need you there, outside
    Westminster City Hall.

    The Arrangements.
We will meet at Ace Cafe London at 3pm for a ride-out at 4:15pm to
Trafalgar Square, for the mother of all demonstrations, others will be
gathering at the square between 5pm-6:15pm then we will leave the Square
for a short and very angry ride to Westminster City Hall by 6.45pm, in
what needs to be the largest ride-out ever seen in the capital.

Make sure you take the time out to be there. If you are coming from
    outside London take time off.

    WHY?

    Well the choice is simple....

PROTEST NOW OR PAY FOREVER EVERYWHERE!

If you don't want to take the late afternoon off, then come to Trafalgar
sq, 5pm - 6.15pm or go to the WCC Victoria St for 6:45 and onwards.

WCC have been getting heavy handed with threats of legal action with the
result that the campaign forum has been closed. Details here.

In the past I've had a pop at you for your views on parking in
Westminster but having had time to think about it I've changed my
    mind.

There's no good reason why the residents of Westminster shouldn't
subsidise your parking and I'm sure you're not selfish enough to
object if your local council scraps all parking charges in your area
and simply slaps a 10% increase on your council tax.

"your lot", Yup, I like that. I like that a lot.

Somebody out there has got so pissed off with the tax that they've taken
to removing signs or covering them with black paint. I don't know who,
you don't know who. But WCC apparently consider talking about it on an
internet forum to be "Calling for the vandalising and removal of
motorcycle parking signs that provide vital information for
motorcyclists wishing to park in Westminster."

Did you never send an abusive email? I rather doubt that.
Indeed. MAG and BMF increasingly feel a bit past their sell-by date. But
in her defence, that comment about junk mail filters was not from her.
Her joint statement with MAG was being quoted in an email from XXX and
it was XXX who can't work his or her email.

Nice. I am indeed very pleased that the residents and businesses of
Camden, The City and Chelsea (to name but three) subsidise my parking.
And no, I wouldn't object if my local council scrapped all parking
charges and made a commensurate increase in the council tax to cover the
shortfall. I rather doubt it would be 10% though.

    Agreed.

I think you may have confused me with somebody else. Perhaps it was some
of the people you were referring to when you said "your lot".

Are you claiming I did write those things and are therefore a twat? Well
quote your source then. Or are you claiming WCC are saying I wrote those
things and so I should sue them? Again, quote your source. You've
already shown yourself incapable of reading and understanding a letter
with your mistaken attack on Cathy Philpotts. I'd be interested in what
document you've misunderstood to mean that I have some personal
    involvement in this thing.

But then perhaps you're just claiming I'm a twat and playing your usual
troll games to make it look vaguely reasonable. Perhaps you're taking
delight in getting a bit of a response so you can keep the troll game
going a bit longer. Perhaps your considered response to all that will
amount to nothing more than "You're a twat".[1]
This seems to be your best bet

Where did that one come from?
You can call it what it you like, but when it's obligatory it's a tax in my
    book!

I was going to avoid this thread but hey.
It's not obligatory is it?, it's a charge to park. Personally I avoid
as much as is possible paying to park either my bike or my car. If you
choose not to park in westminster then there'll be no charge

It's no more obligatory than a bus or tube ticket.
    You've seriously overvalued that.

    - Until we get a London wide pay-by-phone parking and the other councils
realise how much money is to be made from parking fines by charging M/C
    as well.

    - If you need to get to somewhere near the edges of the WCC boundary and
can find a space because everyone else in Westminster is doing the same
thing. The bays in Camden, The City and Chelsea that are near the WCC
    border are all overflowing.

IDGAF, the point I was making, and SD makes, is it's not a fucking
tax. It's a charge for a service (parking), you can choose to use the
    service or not.
I choose not to take a bike or car into London, ergo I don't have
    struggle with parking.

Just so we're completely clear here. Are you claiming I've engaged in
criminal damage or was responsible for outing a council employee? Or are
you saying that Westminster Council are claiming that I've done either
of those things and so I should sue them for defamation? Or is what
makes me a fuckwit, that I'm associating with people who you claim are
in those positions? Or something else entirely?

Because I've already agreed with you that publishing a council employees
home address was a bad mistake by whoever did it. Which is why the mods
of the forum concerned removed the post soon after it appeared; to the
satisfaction of the council's legal department. And that's regardless of
the detail already being on the internet and easily found via a quick
google search. Perhaps you, like Westminster, consider talking about the
criminal damage that is happening is the same as an incitement to others
    to copy it.

Or perhaps you're just a fuckwit that likes arguing for it's own sake
    and has hooked another one.

I don't do London at all, for anything I hate the hole, but the excuse, for
charging as I understand it, and I could well be wrong because I truly
haven't taken a great deal of notice, is;- that Westminster were supposed to
be making more "secure" bike parking bays and therefore charging for their
use. All well and good if that's what they did, but the little feedback I've
token any notice of is that they have made a few secure bays, in the most
subscribed areas, but that has been at the cost of losing spaces. But, they
are still charging even for just normal bike parking in the original
    unsecured marked bit of road.
    Have I got this wrong?
As I say, it doesn't affect me, but I still feel that if something free has
been changed to a chargeable event, that is wrong, shirley?
I'm interested now in finding out what has really changed? I could well be
barking up the wrong tree ;o)
    Taa.
