Nope. They work for insurance companies and come up with furphies to
feed the gullible public to get it to swallow increasing premiums.

Judging by your response, they're either very good at what they do, or
you're really some kind of susceptible moron.
Tell that to the bloke with the oxygen tank next to him chasing James
    Hardie through the courts.

There's no need to thank Gerry. He's just happy to slap dicks with anyone who
helps him to prove that he was right.

Then why don't you explain the distinction to me, Turcaud?

Not at all.. thanking and praising people for posting opinions which concur
with your own is so lame.
Feel free to list evidence of as many examples as you like of me leaping to
the defence of people who drop their bikes in single vehicle accidents and
    list them here...

IT isn't really clear how many of those there are.

THere are certainly ones that make the news, but how common are they?

It's also not at all clear that such things are the reason for premium
    rises.

I think it's more likely that premiums rise because insurance companies
don't finance their payouts from premiums, but from investments. And
those investments were doing very badly the last few years, co-inciding
    with the rise in premiums.

Is this the kinder, gentler, more relaxed Australia that John Howard

How many compensation lawsuits have you been involved in?

Recall simply that the most recent bout of hand-wringing over
    out-of-control public-liability litigation happened around March-April,
    2002.

What had happened six months prior to that? Who ended up paying for it
all, and who needed to regenerate some capital f-a-s-t?
While trying to sound haughty is an approach favoured by the pompous.
You see another George W doing it all the goddamn time.

Which bit of the legal profession? Judges? Lawyers?

And face it... if you were self employed and someone said "you can make
a good living or you can earn half that but have a bit of feelgood",
    which would you accept?

  16. I know of a few barristers who advised against persuing public liability
claims a few years ago as they said judges were unlikely to hand down a
favourable determination in the current climate.
I'd go with the feelgood but I'm just a degenerate bikie who flouts the
law and should be locked up anyway.

You claim, in another thread, to have been on Usenet since 1995, and
that's the best you can come up with?

Considering your response to Zebee below, it's not surprising you
bypassed my little query about the number of compensation lawsuits you
    have you been involved in.

For someone who can't even figure out what to do with their visor when
riding at night, you've got a very big mouth.
