OK, so I'm new and ask a lot of questions, hope you don't mind. I got kitty purring over the weekend, so that problem should be taken care of. Now, I overheard some people talking about this type of bike, and they were mumbling something about 'changing the CDI' because of the 'lousy ignition timing', if I can translate that correct. What's the big secret here? Any advice? If this stuff is really top-secret factory racing engineering, please let me in on it, if not, what the hell, just tell me anyway. Brand, type, whatever. just tell me :-) After barging in a couple of times like this, I guess it's time to introduce myself a bit, no? So, I'm Peter, I live in Belgium, been here a couple times before (had a mail-versation with Murray I think). How I got here doesn't matter, right? I'm addicted to odd bikes taht aren't old but aren't new either. Like eighties stuff :-). And I am sort of trying to learn about them by fiddling and reading some stuff. I was already quite hooked on Motorcycle Mechanics, and wanted to scratch my DIY-itch. So, I bought myself a two-stroke (1982 Kawasaki KDX175) for about 30 quid, and I was handed this other one, a 1982 also Hondie CB250RS, for free that is. Both simple, one two-stroke and a four stroke to learn about the both, ordered some basic tech books, and off I went. So, budgetwise, wrenching just can't go wrong. I managed to get the Hondie started , so that's 1 down, the KDX is a nightmare for now; it's still balancing on the thin 'get tossed' line. But I don't care. Oh, and as a streetbike on a regular basis, I keep a ducati Monster 600, just because it's a reliable little thing. BTW, I guess it was one of the regulars here that had his Honda Featured recently in a Motorcycle Mechanics, right? Who Please? Nice bike! Now, for you? Greetings, Peter
