As your unofficial and (as yet) unelected but soon to be Moderator, I take
this opportunity to address all my "fans" and "unfans".. The thread entitled
"Just a note" has been dedicated for everyone to air their grievances and
expressions of discontent.. Although, I plan to run a clean and open forum
for "all", please be aware that your every comment will be scrutinized and
carefully assessed for content .. Any discrepancies on the part of
Motorcylist (Biker .. for the uninformed) will be severely and immediately
seized upon for penalties to be determined by my committee, which I will
appoint at a later date.. The rules for this committee will be devised as
necessary for me to properly render my judgements.. Thank you for your
    continued support ..

How is it that one of the biggest offenders of "unrelated to motorcycles"
posts even has the gall to run for an "position of moderator"?

    I say WTF, Chuck?

IF this happens, I'll delete this NG forever. Maybe I should anyhow. I
mean, if it's even possible for argueably the most potty-mouthed, and
biggest offender of posting unrelated messages, to even be CONSIDERED for a
position of moderating said NG, what's this world coming to?

    Ta-tah.

Somebody has to do that BAD job.. Guess it might as well be me.."Potty
    mouth"...
Seems this group thrived pretty well before you got here this month, so
maybe it will survive when you abruptly take your leave.. Adios...

    I
Damned if I know.. It is for sure that you coming in here with both guns
blazing is making an impression on much of anyone.. Grow up and stop letting
someone push your buttons.. No matter how close to you they may be...
    Cheerio "Sweetie"
Oh, watch out for that door coming up behind you there....

I would like to read this group's charter so that I might determine
for myself what is officially off topic.

IS there a charter? Where can I get a copy?

P.S. If there were a vote right now, I'd cast for Bill Walker. (Do I
get a patch, or a nice letter, or SOMEthing now, Bill?)

Motorcycles, etc. is the official "topic" as such.. There are many
interpretations .. My "topic" sometimes are indirect and requires some
thought to make the connections.. I believe that things that affect our
daily lives in our little world of motorcycles, as well as other areas of
our lives are "topic".. i.e. Legislation addressing voting rights, civil
rights, insurance, oil, gas, electricity, and the fuel for our vehicles ..
Some disagree until they are directly affected.
Sorry I can't offer you a link to a specific charter.. I am given to
understand that some of this group were very upset and were collaborating to
initiate a "charter".. This being the type newsgroup it is, I wouldn't have
a clue as to that process..
In an effort to defuse the animosity that was flying around and after the
"charter" discussion, a few on here made an effort to use some humor to ease
up the tensions.. What you see now, is the repercussions of some button
pushing in the background.. Don't take it seriously .. "This too shall
    pass".. (maybe)
Sure thing.. The committee will be considering all those who have
contributed to the campaign of Bill Walker for Group Moderator.. This
committee will be seated as soon as I have completed the selection of them..
Would you consider a post in that committee ??

There is NO charter. There was some discussion about writing one by a
few of the clowns posturing here and saying everything is off topic
and they'll have accounts cancelled. Since the group was created
    without a charter, it's a done deal.

If a charter was written today, it would probably say something like:
    Here yee all of devine tx.motorcycles;
We alst comith before to posture and posteth our dribble of insults
and whines. We declare our proclamation of intention to end all
postings which are not focused on what we want from a posting and
topic. We further declare anyone who ventures astray from our intent
will be punished by being banned into Albert's kill file where we can
claim to not see their posts, but will really be reviewing for content
to see if the violators have stopped. Above all, our intention is to
declare all is fair game for The Walker's and anyone who sides with
them. The one's who side with The Walker's will be punished under the
same scrutiny as they have been.
Here yee may it be written.
Thank you for your continued support. Although we cannot offer you an
official patch from the "fan club" (it closed down last week), we can
assure you that with your support you are sure to find many in this
group will take a negative view toward your postings and fail to
approve many as being "on topic".

    I agree
that is why we are in the "nut cuttin time" "Sweetie" (has no need to worry
    about this phrase)
the votes are in and Bill has won
now we just need the charter and the monitor supreme can do his job.
We are having delays on the Siberia trip do to the cost of moving the Ford
Thanks to everyone for thier votes to elect Bill Walker

  18. kill files are like having an exterminator come and get rid of the
    cockroaches.
the roaches are gone from your house, even if they are still outside in
    the bushes.

the thing about a newsgroup is anyone can post whatever within the
guidelines of usenet. that's very cool. newbies think there are no
guidelines and it's a free for all, but the guidelines are being more
stringently enforced these days by isp's because of the downloading and
abuse issues. most isp's are not lacking for business and will
eventually dump someone who causes the isp more trouble than they are
    worth.

the beauty of usenet is the group can be tailored to fit your
preferences. idiots can rant away and like a crappy radio station, you
simply tune them out and talk to the folks who have something worthwhile
    to say.
