185 squids TPFT for unlimited mileage[1] thanks to Aunty Carol.

[1] Unlimited mileage on the back of a breakdown lorry, I wonder?

Sounds expensive to me, the FJ cost me £105 at 1st Quote. I did limit it
    to 10,000 miles/year though.

Bike's are bosh, PC's are pointless, and the 1990's are nuts!
Bikes are great, PCs are super, and the 1990s are the time to be!
Save the apostrophe! Get 'em right! If in doubt, leave 'em out!!

I used 1st Quote while I had the 400. Having dealt with them since
selling it I'm glad I didn't have to make a claim.

I rang them to inform them of the fact that I needed to change policies
(ie cancel the 400 and take one out on the 600). Ah. You will need a
*new* policy for the 600, because your current insurers will not insure
    a CBR. <boggle>

Ok. Quote me. So they quoted me. Not too bad I thought, but for some
reason they had to send my details to another department for processing
and they would call me back in 20 minutes. I had already been cut off
twice anyway when trying to sort a new policy out, so when they failed
to call back after 50 minutes I called Bennetts and got immediate cover.
After all, I was picking the new bike up that afternoon!

I got the documents from Bennetts and naturally they wanted proof of
NCD. I called 1st Quote and told them of my initial problems, the fact
that I had insured elsewhere [1] and I required proof of NCD sending to
me. Over 3 weeks ago. I haven't received anything.

I contacted Bennetts about the problem, who promised to contact them
directly because I told them that I wasn't entirely convinced they
would actually do what they had promised to do. I'm still waiting for
the docs from Bennetts though. [2]

[1] I enquired as to whether the 400 policy was still in force. The
answer was yes. Based on recent experience I wouldn't touch 1st Quote
again with a shitty barge-pole. Of course, it's only when you need
something doing that you realise that, isn't it.

[2] But I don't really expect to receive the paperwork until just
    before the 20th

Cunts. They all deserve to die.
I wouldn't touch them purely because their advert looks pants and
they've always been in the top three most expensive.
As long as you get a cover note, eh?

Actually they're considerably cheaper than anybody else I tried and
the insurance has gone down from about 250 last year, so that isn't
    too bad.

Hmm, this years insurance renewal was most odd for me.

NU Direct came in at £240 FC as a renewal premium.
Contacted all the usual suspects (Bennetts, Aunty Carole etc) and got prices
    ranging from £160 to £180.
Phoned a company called Laxtons and got it for £123.00 incl legal and
breakdown, which I checked, double checked and went for.

Funny thing, all the alternative quotes I was offered were with the same
    insco, Equity Red Star.

    Very odd.

Anyway, at least I reduced this years premium by some 50%. I expect this
means I paid well over the odds last year.

  8. Out of interest, have you ever been turned down for breakdown insurance?

I think it's common in the first year of biking - I paid a _huge_ amount to
insure the SV first year out - and had a limited range of quotes.

Indeed, still expensive for TPFT though.

A chap at work is getting quotes around £100 for things like a ZZR400
    with zilch no claims.

    Hehe.

I get a special discount on the insurance 'cos the bike is never on
the road, that way they can allocate more dosh to the breakdown
    insurance.

the cont known as Timo Geusch says...
I was parking my car near to my company's head office the other day and
I realised that it looked familiar. I drove down the road a little and
sussed that you live round the corner.

Any objections if I blame any bad luck I have in the future on you?
