And they would find the private healthcare market isn't large enough
to support their demands, the ones that walk can be replaced from
anywhere in the EU easily enough. It's the same as the bankers
argument, despite the bluster most would stay.

    They work for us.

Nationalise the BMA. The cunts do as we tell them or we strike them off the
    Register.

It's not always what's cracked up to be. My hopeless employer now
wants a £600 contribution towards treatment. I paid it last year
following the run in with the reaper in March but since they will no
longer pay for the follow ups next year then it's back to the NHS. So
they can kiss my arse for the £600 next year and if necessary I'll sit
at home asking the quack for certificates whilst waiting for
    treatment.

Every time i've needed A+E bike-related tarmac surfing services,
they've been fucking excellent, considering it's a "free" [1] service

    Paul.

[1] Yes, I know the futility of that word where it's placed in that
    sentence ..

I'd agree. Which is why I think these planned changes might just be a
    monumental **** up.

I didn't criticise the service delivery, I maligned the efficiency.

Actually the service delivery is shite too unless you come in as urgent and
bypass the queue, otherwise you might wait for hours.
The service also treats lots of people who have no right to treatment in the
    UK without providing payment/insurance.

  9. thank you for that insight into the future of the NHS.

Look on the bright side - you could earn a fortune teaching people how
to challenge the system when it fucks them about.

It will get better when all the staff are well paid and the service doesn't
rely on personal philanthropy to work!

  11. As someone else said the consultant was probably run off their feet and
couldn't review your trace until late on. I had something similar when
I had a tingling arm and was on the verge of being admitted rather than
be allowed home. It wasn't a heart attack btw - it was a nerve in my
neck getting pinched. Still scary though!
I can understand the sense of disappointment and wishing to be out of
hospital. However if the docs think something's not right then better
that you are in hospital until they are sure.

I'm glad to see that medical types haven't mentioned a "cabbage" [1].
    Carry-on getting well.

Imagine A&E was outsourced to the lowest bidder. I'm really not sure
how high it'll be on a list of priorities set by GP's, maybe it'll do
ok as they'll have all served time there, but who knows.
Waiting isn't so bad, if it's non urgent why should people use an
emergency department over a walk in centre?
Ahh now that's a different issue, and one easily fixable. The
policies simply need changing so that the service is only free to
children and those with a valid national insuarance number. Obviously
production of the above need not be required for A&E situations, where
    retrospective billing would cover things.

Having been admitted to a foreign A&E I was required to provide one
from the following; local id card, insurance, british passport[1] at
which point the admission papers were stamped to show I was entitled
to paid for care. In the absence I would have had to provide some form
    of finance.

    [1] reciprocal agreement in place

NHS service delivery contracxts are scores on a complex matrix and cost
    isn't the only factor
Don't get me started! particularly on parents bringing little Johnny in
    because he has a cough.
It is fixable. There is no will to fix it, currently.

    Daily Mail reader?

Just wondering as where I am on placement (no names, so don't ask) they
    do check entitlement.

    Who me, don't be ridiculous!
Leeds and York, I'm sure they aint unique.

Taking it another way, we hand out NHS benefits to immigrants rather than a
health insurance policy being a condition of entry. Say 10 years, for all
    family members.

My mistake, it read like it.
You have evidence that these people do not have an entitlement?
