From what I've heard, that's about right. Harris Performance Products
do Brembo gear, which may work out cheaper than buying Aprilia parts.

  3. The chances are that this is indeed the case - we've done this before.

If he's lucky, he could take the seals to a hydraulic seals place and
ask for equivalents, but as (I think) Bonwick said a while back, if they
know it's for brake porpoises they may refuse to sell, on the usual
    litigious grounds.

I know you can't get seal kits from Aprilia or from Brembo themselves.

I /think/ that Brembo have some sort of exchange program: you send them
your knackered calliper, they send back a reconditioned one. I've no
    idea how much it costs.

Alternatively, our tame mechanic is something of a Ducati specialist,
and he mentioned some time ago that there was a company that produced
pattern seals for Brembo callipers on Ducatis, and he was hopeful that
they would do the same for Aprilias.

Might as well give him a plug - I owe him that much at least, for all
the times he's been somewhat "relaxed" with his labour charges, if
    nothing else:

If there's no other solution, it might be worth giving him a ring to see
    if he can help.

  8. ...who was a woman. Obviously a holiday replacement or something,
she hasn't wised-up to the regular postie's method of telling me he's
been -- leaving the front gate open. Now I'm waiting for the hoses...

Since my workshop Manuel has gone walkabout (or got thrown out
with the recycling), what are the things to watch out for when reassembling
the calipers? Moisten the intra-caliper and piston seals with brake fluid
before assembly? Is it OK to use coppaslip on the dust seals and wiper
rings? The oxidation there was something fierce (Switzerland salts its
roads in winter & BK was ridden to work nearly every day for 9½ years).
