ebay is for selling. Buying on ebay is for mugs, mostly.

Well apart from looking at the frequent links posted here I'd never used it
until earlier this year, but I have picked up bits and pieces listening to
    TOG & others.

FWIW I think it's pretty good - I certainly can't complain about getting the
PDF of the workshop manual for my bike for £1.50 and there are quite a few
books[1] that I'm watching at the moment that just aren't available new any
    more.

[1] And something else that I'm not mentioning, because if I do then I
think a few others here would be interested and they're probably all richer
    than me :)

How much could I get a Herman Miller chair for, then?

Is there a way to view previous auction resulting prices?

And can I do a search on the "Buy Now" prices, so save all that
    bidding rubbish?

And where does someone selling brand new Herman Miller chairs on ebay
get them from? Surely it's dodgy?
    heh. You can!

Um, you can print out pages to have at hand when you're working on the bike
and they sort of give you a clue as to what you're supposed to be doing.
I shall be sure to inform e-bay of your approval immediately.

Right - so I can read out to the grease-monkey what should be going
on. Got it! Hey - that's great.
I can only imagine the pleasure this will give them; it'll almost be
    indecent.

Like most things, it's ok if you keep your wits about you. I've made
some decent sales, and maanged to buy a few things at good money.

Currently winning bidder on a pair of Bridgestones...

I think I have identified the problem.
There's a chick in the office who's got a 600 rating (whatever that
is). I might get her to source me a Herman Miller chair, and get it
    sent through the military post.

    darsy says...
All depends on what you're buying, and whether you can get it cheaper
elsewhere. I've just watched a used pair of R+G crash protectors for the
T/Ace sell for more than a new pair, and then there was the 10 quid
postage to add on. Stupid really.

There's the auction fever factor, for sure, but some people tend to
treat ebay like an online catalogue; which is handy, I suppose, if you
happen to live in Muckle Foula and have no plastic.
