Somewhat worryingly, my son (bless his little not so white cotton
socks) is asking me questions about nitrous oxide systems on bikes...

    Is it street legal?
Do you have to modify your bike in any way?
Does anyone have any knowledge or experience in this field?

    ?

Nitrous Oxide, I hear it's a bit of a laugh.

Maybe - it doesn't like advanced ignition. E.g. If I were to fit nos to
my SV it'd be a bad idea to fit the 4 degree timing advance widget that
    would otherwise work nicely.
Not me. It's something I'm interested in though.

  4. Yes

Will you get insurance? From 99% of insurers, no. The 1% will charge you
    *stupid* money
Technically, no. In reality, yes. Apart from putting small holes in your
manifolds for the nitrous jets, it's generally a good idea to run
something like a Dyna 2000 ignition system so that you don't have to run
    the engine permanently retarded

Everything else is basically bolt on, although I seriously recommend not
using the throttle sensor switch that comes with NOS kits [1] and
fitting a separate rider-operated switch instead
    Nope

[1] NOS and nitrous are two totally different things no matter what
people said in the Fast And The Stupid

  6. Although you can do it that way on a bike, you're basically wasting your
money on the kit in the first place as you lose sooo much power that way

Straight into the manifold is the only real way to do it on a bike

  10. "Q: Does NOS manufacture kits for motorcycles, water craft, or
    snowmobiles?

A: Absolutely, call or write NOS to obtain our special catalogue devoted
    specifically to these applications."

    NOS on a snowmobile. *nice*

Haven't we done this all before? Is it worth FFAQing?

FWIW, yes, it's legal provided you tell your InsCo about it and are still
    able to get insurance.

Modifying the engine: How much sniff you want to stuff into the motor? A
    little = no, a lot = yes.

No personal experience on bikes, but, er, a fair bit on cars...
