  2. I'm now convinced there is only one "Norway" bike and you're all passing
it between each other to get photographed outside your respective
    properties ;-)

When do you loons actually depart?

    As if we'd do that.
Next Friday afternoon. I should think someone will put a photo up when
we all meet at Harwich just to dispel any doubts.

Hahaha, does seem that way... Looks like there's more than one redneck
    in the group too.

I find myself looking at your bike and feeling more than slightly
happy that I've got a nice high screen fitted to my bike and I haven't
got to lug that bastard great big red bag onto a ferry.

  12. Why, a yard isn't complete without a truck, building materials, and an
    outside car ramp.

  13. With you involved I could imagine anything could happen. By the time
you add in Mr Packer, Sweller and Alex then I rather expect world war
    three could start.
Oh jolly good. Time to start looking at European weather forecasts.

    You're easily pleased.

    Very nice, dear.

I hope you're not relying on bungees (OK, and a cargo net, which is
only a mass of bungees) to hold that waterproof paddock sack all the
way there and back again. I'd have a pair of small ratchet straps on
that, then there's no chance of the thing rolling around, nor the
elastic giving way when it gets cold. Trust me, I#ve done a few miles
with one of those things on the pillion and until it was strapped in
place, the fucker was always on the roll, on the slide, or on its way
    off the bike.

I think the folding shovel is a great idea, but again, it'll be away
once you've hit a few bumps.

I was hoping that my h&b rear rack would appear before I went but it
    hadn't at that point.
    But it has now!
So I shall have a little top box to put stuff in (the shovel can go in a
pannier) and to lash the great red bag to :)
    Proper mudguard arrived as well.
With a small packet of haribo sweets......

I was a bit worried about it. I do now own a couple of long straps but
as I said earlier; things will be different now the rack has arrived :)

Are we going back to the tailpacks kill thing that Bear dragged on for
    what seemed like decades?

It's only in the last year or so that I've started to use Roc straps
and they're fine for anything I've ever wanted to strap on a bike but
until then it was bungees every day and I've never had a problem with
them. As long as you use loads of them they're great and a lot less
likely to freeze solid than a ratchet strap. I can imagine the fun to
be had when you discover the part of the strap that's been coiled up
has frozen solid and you have to cut the strap.

See my reply to Pip, I don't think you've thought through what'll
    happen when ratchet straps freeze.
