High front mudguard with no girly bit at the back.
Big panniers with chamfers on all lower edges (1).
    Small top box.
    Scottoiler.
    Bar muffs.
    High screen.
    Baglux cover.
    Small bash plate.
    Engine bars.
Plastic protectors all over the place (the grey bits).
Brush guards inside the bar muffs.
    FOAD big knobblies.
    Heated clothing lead.

It'll have to do now because I'm bored with messing about with it.
I've changed the oil & coolant, bought a spare spark plug and I'll be
taking a can of tyre repair shite rather than putting slime in the
tyres because (as someone else pointed out) we don't know if slime
    freezes in very low temperatures.

The Scottoiler stickers are there because they've been nice to us and
want some photos in return. If this is the 'before' picture I don't
expect the 'after' one to look quite the same.

    (1) Made by Vern in his shed. None of that skanky pop riveted shit for
me, I know I'll be using them as skis at some point so I lashed the
money out on fully welded ones in the hope that they don't fall apart
when I've bounced the bike on them.

    Outstanding!
Are those commercially available panniers or 1 off.

He mainly makes panniers for GS Beemers but if you ask nicely he'll
make them for any bike, Bruce & Jean also have pairs made by him.

Not cheap compared to some but at £500 including fitting to frames
supplied by me I wasn't going to argue. They're made out of slightly
thicker plate than most others and all fittings are good quality
stainless. I had mine made to fit Touratech frames so I can swap them
onto any bike with similar frames.

Spiffy. You need a few more shots - left side, front, rear, rider's
view... The "after" shots will be interesting.

    Brake pads OK?

Very impressive, although I'm surprised not see any of the Norway bound
bikes sporting a Tucano Gaucho leg cover or equivalent.

Looking forward to the after pics. Btw, just a thought, it strikes me
it's probably a good idea not to brake hard to a stop at the end of
the day. I could be completely wrong but I suspect the difference in
cool-down time between the open bits of disc & the bits between the
pads will be somewhat increased in very cold temps, which could cause
warping. And pulsing pads on ice wouldn't be fun.

If you look carefully at the XT pics, ITYF there's some sort of
    waterproof leg/lap cover there.

It may be to stop the blessedly warm piss getting out, mind.

It would be nice if Andy took some more before pics, first. Does look
    well, though.
Even the Mad Bomber's going to struggle to get discs up to warping
    temperature, Shirley.

Something that occurs to me though, from my very limited experience of
riding in snow and sub-zero temps: if I braked to a stop and left the
bike for any length of time, it didn't take very long for the pads to
freeze to the discs. This was not a good thing, not at all. If
foolish enough to forget and repeat, new pads can be required due to
delamination of the friction lining leaving fragments stuck to the
discs. This can give all the feeling of warped discs without the
    bravery requirement.

Pushing the bike after stopping, even for a few yards, seemed to avoid
this happening - possibly allowing the film of water between pad and
    disc to drain away.

Canvas panniers in metal frames capable of taking a 20L jerry can, each
side. So a sort of "Check"

    Large weatherproof holdall,

Stupid tank bag not quite fitting to slopey tank - Check

    er, nothing plastic to protect.

Extra jumper and several 12v supplies.

Got a can of stuff I found kicking about in the lockup - not sure if it's
got any propellant. Taking tyre levers and a puncture repair kit anyway.

    Save a sticker for me.

I expect mine to look similar.

That comes under the heading of I don't care.

Somewhere along the road you have to draw a line where it stops being
within our control and we have to just rely on good luck. This will be
one of the definitive winter trips on a bike where nobody has done it
before without a lot of back up so we're really just trusting our luck
and the fact that it'll be a laugh.

I'm beginning to think my "extra jumper and adjust the chain" preparation
strategy may not be the best one.

I've decide not to wear my Belstaff.

I see that Wessie has already posted details but if you want more then
you'll have to email me. I've got his mobile number along with his
    workshop number plus email details.

Vern might tell you to go bollocks because he only makes panniers to
fit bikes where he's confident he'll make a top job and there's a long
lead time on them because they're hand made. He's based about 10 miles
out of Chester and you'll certainly have to take the bike there so he
can have a look at what you want before be commits himself and then go
back to have them fitted but what you will get is a set of panniers
    hand made to order.

Telling him you know me as well as Bruce and Jean will help you along
the way but be prepared to spend several hours at the shed working out
what you want and accepting that he's not someone that will compromise
when it comes to his reputation.
