North Yorks Plod

  1. When I did my police instructed advanced riding, I was told to do that
if it was clear and I didn't obstruct any one if the 'turn' lane went
    green first.
The copper said it was all part of making progress.

  4. I got a ticket for it by post from Harringey council in That There
London. The union solicitor's opinion was that I could challenge it but
I probably wouldn't get very far.

I paid it by cheque 12 months ago but the cheque never got presented.

Odd thing to say, really, isn't it? Did he suggest any grounds on which
you might have been able to challenge successfully?
    I wonder why.

  8. That I wasn't causing any obstruction to traffic (nobody was in the lane
I used and I was away sharp on my toes) and that it was in order to
    filter in traffic.

I made the decision that it just wasn't worth my time fighting a £60
ticket as the time spent would exceed the worth to me (2 hours at my
    overtime rate).

It was discussed on here at the time but it is indeed most odd that the
cheque wasn't presented. They have never chased me for non-payment so I
assume they must have received it.

I did too, but it was possibly the time when he passed a car that was
stopped at a set of ped lights. He passed the car when it was at the zig-zag
section of the crossing. Not a lot of difference, mind.

  10. Err this is Harringay Council we are talking about! Don't expect
    anything approaching competence.
