North Yorks. 3 hour trip?

I'm in Ripon, N.Yorks. on Saturday, with 3 hours or so to spare.
Looking at the map, a reasonable round trip appears to be - Ripon -
Leyburn - Grassington - Pateley Bridge - Ripon.

Any thought on whether this would be worthwhile, or other routes I
    should go for?
    Thanks
    Alan.

I was up there a couple of weeks ago. Some of those roads are in a bot
of a state, so take it easy.

Lovely place though, Grassington will probably be heaving with nastiness.
Thursday is market day in Ripon.
The Sandpiper in Leyburn used to do wonderful steak sandwiches, but they
    are always closed on Monday.
Pateley Bridge has a couple of really good butchers and delicatessens if
    you like a good pie.

That's what I thought. Narrow twisty lanes, full of touristy types
clogging the roads. No chance to overtake, every chance to get sweaty
    and frustrated.

I'd say get out across the moors, or from personal experience, take
any road North to Richmond and go and do the B6274 - both ways.
That's about 30 miles of sublime hoonery, that is. Lovely surface,
sweepy bendy bits with a village every now and again to allow you to
    get your breath back.

I am. But it is not like I'd ever pay a prozzie for sex, I'll just give
my girlfriend £100 to go shopping (even though she earns twice what I
earn), guaranteed sex that night then, with no worries of STDs or a time
limit to get it over with!

And on getting the email confirming the B+B 10 minutes ago, it is not in
Ripon, but near to Bedale, so a trip toward Teeside may well be on the
cards - I've always looked at the hills from the A1, so an afternoon
jaunt over there would be good.

Just don't take the small road NNE out of Kettlewell: it's a right
tight twisty little bastard - too tight to be fun, tbh.

I get to do that about every other year on the RBR. I enjoyed
    Saltergate on Saturday.

To fill up 3 hours you could widen the route slightly to take in
    Swaledale and Buttertubs Pass.
